Works well if...

It worked as advertised. Makes getting a grip and pulling hide much easier. Here's are some tips: 1-make sure you have a good amount of hide in the gripper or it will pull hair out and tear hide if you are close to the edge. 2-where you place the gripper MUST be free from any fat that is attached to the hide or it WILL slip off and the teeth will be packed with fat which needs to be cleaned out before using again.

Works better than anything else I've tried!

Upon initial inspection the puller seemed too tight to easily open and close, as if the Hulk squeezed the rivets. After applying Kroil oil and exercising the joints for 20 minutes it loosened up to where I was able to actuate the jaws with a single hand. I put it to the test a couple of days ago on a ferel hog that I shot. Since I've skinned many of them using only my hands, I can honestly say this design is fantastic. The tool worked as advertised and with ease, cutting my skinning time by nearly 2/3's I highly recommend it!

Made from "Cast 440C Stainless"....But rusty right in the package.

Well, just received this item, and on initial inspection I'm not hugely impressed with the quality. It's got surface corrosion pretty much all over it, and according to the packaging, it's made from stainless steel. I call BS on that. I'll have a chance over the next week to see if it's useful in skinning deer, but as stiff as the hinge on it is, I'm not optimistic. I'll follow up with an update, but for $48, rusty while still in the package, it'll have to be damn near magical in order for me not to send it back.

I've had this hide puller for awhile now. I added a photo to show this is a real review. I have skint several deer (mine and friends) and over a dozen wild hogs with this. With an electric wrench to pull up the animal, and a ratchet strap hooked in one of the holes of the hide puller fastened to a d-link in the floor. Considerably more force than just using your hands. This works so well I gave one to a buddy as a Christmas gift. Another saw me use it an bought his own. It's built like a tank. Wild hog hide is tough to pull off, so if I'm not bending it or breaking it, it's very well made. As far as rusting, blood is very corrosive. Wash it thoroughly, and spray it with cooking oil. Definitely a thumbs up from this hunter.

Bought in 2017, and it is AWESOME!

When your hands are cold and you are trying to pull on the hide, you have a great handle and a great biting grip. I have pulled hard with mine, and it never broke. I have used it for skinning several Elk in the field. The Elk were on the ground. They were not hanging in the tree, and I was not pulling with all my body weight. I don't know how some of these guys broke them. I have another Elk hunt in December with four others, and I am recommending that they each buy one of these. One of my hunting buddies already bought one, since he has seen them used in the field before. It can be re-positioned by one hand very effectively. Very useful product.

Grips hide very well.

Mine came a little rusty but just needed some oil on it. Now it moves super smooth. It grips the hide very welland I haven't had any issues out of it yet. Just wish it was a little cheaper.
