Easy to Assemble & Good for newbies

Assembling the machine was a breeze and didn't take too long. The machine rows smoothly, is very quiet and sturdy! It also doesn't take up a ton of space. I was able to put it on the side of my bed and use it just fine. However, the resistance doesn't go up very high, so it was too light for me. I think this is really good for a starter row machine, for an older person or anyone looking for lighter resistance. Honestly, I enjoy the machine and grappled with returning it but ultimately I need the challenge of more resistance. Would recommend despite it not working out for me! Oh and the shipping time was really swiftly.

Love Love Love

This inexpensive rowing machine provides a better workout than the manual commercial rowing machine at the gym at work. Great workout and easy to assemble in 30 minutes or less. Perfect addition to my home gym.

It does the job, but I don't know how long it will last

The price of this product made owning a rowing machine affordable, and I can definitely see results the next day after each use. My arms are toning, it is thinning my stomach, sides, and back. I love this about it. I have a few big concerns with it though. I am heavy, but well under the weight capacity and am seeing significant wear already. I have probably only had a chance to use it a dozen or so times, and you can see that the wheels are grinding on the bar the seat slides up and down across. This also cause a little extra, irritating noise. Not quite nails on the chalk board, but still annoying and will probably make it have a short lifespan. The other issue is the placement of the wires. If you try to fold it up to store it, it is way too easy to pinch the cord. I did it the first time. There is a little warning label on the side that you don't see until it is too late and you have nearly severed the cord. Even though I have avoided folding it for storage since, I had issues with it registering that I was rowing because the cord was damaged. I had to use electrical tape to fix it so it would work and to tape it to the inside so it stays straight. It has temporarily fixed the issue. The other issue I had is that when I purchased it, the option to purchase the extended warranty. I've had it less than 2 months and don't see it lasting more than a few more months. I am hoping this thing holds up long enough for me to reach my weight loss goals and/or I can afford a better one. I am hoping maybe I can contact the company and find out if I could put wax or other protective coating where it is rubbing to extend its life, and possibly a cord replacement.

Honest review. 12-14-22

Having recently gone through an ordeal that stripped 64 pounds off my body (leaving me at 200 lbs) I am in a weakened condition, to put it mildly. I decided a rowing machine would help me get some good cardio exercise and help to build some of my muscle back in a low impact way. I bought this machine because they had the best price and a close relative of mine vouched for the company as being makers of good exercise equipment. It was easy to put together, it looks nice, and it fit easily in the space I had prepared for it. The digital display lit up happily and worked well despite my fears from reading others' reviews that this bit might be faulty on arrival. Then I sat on it and began rowing. I went through about 50 rows and checked my heart rate; 75 bpm (base 60). I knew right away that the resistance was very low so I adjusted it to the maximum resistance and had another go. I went faster and faster, the machine began sliding forward and backward with my motion about a foot each way. To be quite fair, it is sitting on a linoleum surfaced concrete slab, so not much friction there. I rowed furiously for 20 minutes and then checked my fitbit for my heart rate. 104 bpm. I didn't even make it into the fat burning zone which begins at 105 bpm for a man of my age, and fell far short of the cardio zone which, for me, begins at 124 bpm. I think this might be a very nice machine for an elderly person who is very weak and finds even walking to be an exertion, since their is no risk of falling but also assuming they can get onto and off of it without help. On the other hand, maybe they can just go for walks instead. I have decided not to return it as the product is very much "as described", looks nice, and functions well. I did not have any of the experiences that other low-star reviewers commented on, to include broken bits, missing bits, broken display, frame breaking, etc... I do concur with many of them, however, that the machine offers very little in the way of exercise resistance even at the max resistance setting. This machine is not worthless, but it is worthless to me and unsuitable for attaining my goals. I don't have any kids, so I am going to see if one of my neighbors has a 10-12 year old who might be interested in taking it, just to get it out of my weight room without having to put it on the curb. Oh, I would say the maximum resistance of the rubber band is about 5 lbs, but, mind you, that is only a guess. Good luck on your quest to find an excellent rowing machine in an acceptable price range.

You get what you pay for

For some this elastic version of the rowing machine is a good amount of resistance for light exercise. For me on the other hand, it feels like nothing on the highest resistance. Waste of money for me, I will probably just buy the $350 dollar version

Great to absolve couch potato guilt

I searched Amazon for a low cost, small footprint, light weight machine - but one that simulated real rowing. I was not looking for a machine to test maximum endurance, but one that would be easy set up and use while watching TV. Something to get me off the couch and alleviate some guilt. This machine is perfect. Easy to set up and light weight to store. Very quiet - how noisy is it to stretch a rubber band. The digital monitor is useless. I didn't bother to connect it, as my Fitbit does a real job of monitoring time, heart rate, and calorie burn. Used if for about a month now and think it's great. Easy to get into calorie burn, and even cardio, as monitored by my Fitbit. I'm sure this is a personal preference but the rowing action that engages your legs, arms, and mid section is easier to maintain over long periods without concentration than on a treadmill or stationary bike. I expect to use it for a long time as not much can go wrong except for the rubber band. Hopefully that could be replaced if necessary.

Nice Rowing Machine.

My Rowing Machine arrived next day. As requested I read all of the instructions before attempting to assemble my Rowing machine. The instructions were very good in the fact that everything was numbered, but I still found it was a good idea to familiarise yourself with all the different pieces before assembly. There is one problem I have identified with the wiring connection along the tubular frame were you plug the two connectors to the display. It didn't matter how hard I tried when I folded the seat up it disconnected the plug in the end I have left the seat down in the horizontal position, other than that I am very pleased with it. If it hadn't been for the problem with the wire connection I would have given it all five star's.

Easy assembly. Item as expected.

I read a LOT of reviews and did weeks of research before deciding on the SF-RW5606 rower. It was very easy to assemble and went together in approx. 40 minutes. I like the smoothness of the seat glide, the large, padded seat and the adjustable tension feature. After only a couple of hours use, however, it's become a bit noisy. Hopefully that will work itself out. I have arthritis so I'm only able to use it for 15-30 minutes every few days while I build up to regular use, but it gives a good workout and has helped strengthen the muscles in my legs as well as my arms and back. I'm 62 and restricted as to what type of exercise my doctor permits, but this rowing machine gets my heart rate up and I do feel better after using it. I expected to be sore the first time I used it, but I actually felt invigorated and did not have an ache or a pain anywhere and that has continued.

Good basic rower

This is a good basic rower if you don't want to break the bank. It's pretty sturdy and has an elastic pull. I live in a bachelor apt so purchased it because it said it could be folded up - this is something I'm pretty disappointed with. It folds slightly but not enough to make an impact or store. The display also stopped working within the first week, but it's too large of an item for me to ship back. Nice and affordable though and gets the job done.

Get what you pay for

Slight design fault when folding the stand it cur through the electrical cable so this now needs replacing before we even used it! The rower itself is surprisingly good so we will for go the electric cable and fix at some point. The resistance is really good for beginners like me it's sturdy and does fold away quite well
