Too short.
The spike overall is too short. Had to drill out the bottom of the rod holder so the rod could be held more firmly. A good, tall piece of pvc and a mallet work better.

Great after being customised.
Ever so handy on the beach these,if you're tall like me (6ft 2 in) then you may find the supplied spikes @ 36 inches are a bit short.I found that you can tap the red part off the spike & then you can get yourself a length of 1 inch angle & cut it to a length that suits you & simply tap the two together.I had an old metal sandspike that incorporated a foot press bar & just took the unrequired bits off the sandspike & when tapped into the red plastic assembly the finished result was great & no cutting involved.

Very sturdy for ocean fishing
This spike never fell over while we used it at the beach. The spot to cut bait is too small but if you just use it to hold your poll it’s a great tool for beach fishing!

Great product for the price. Happy fishing!
Purchased these as they were quite inexpensive. I had gone through the process of purchasing some PVC from the hardware store to make my own spikes, buying some pre-made spikes and considered making my own aluminum channel spikes. I decided against making my own since there seemed to be highly rated and inexpensive when I considered the time and material cost to make my own. A+ so far and the bait holder and knife holder are an added bonus.

My new best surf pal...
Great value for the price, well made and functional. I was not sure it would work but it held well in the sand (important in the Gulf sand) and the baitholder saved trudging up to my bait. The knife holder is a nice function. I actually have people stopping and commenting on the utility and ingeniousness of the Surf Pal. I strongly recommend it to any surf fishermen. Now, if it would show me where the fish are.......

Good for the price
The product is sturdy. But I wish the holder went a few inches deeper. My rod handle is too long for this one. Maybe have different size options.
