Impressive Hand-held Drum

I bought this for a preschool percussion kit, looking for something that would be portable, suitable for children, and offer a good sound. It delivers on all counts. The drum surface is a skin, with the natural variation you'd expect, though is quite a bit more translucent than the picture shows. I expect this to be a favorite of the rhythm box. Though I can't speak to its quality as a "real" instrument designed for use in a band, etc., I'm very pleased with the purchase.

I received only 1 mallet and I ordered 2 drums ...

I received only 1 mallet and I ordered 2 drums. The drums were just what I needed for the children's rhythm activities I was teaching.

handle broke right away, but ok drum

The handle broke off almost immediately after taking it out of the box. The drum is light enough for my 1 year old to use, and she loves it. I will have to glue on the handle, as someone else did.

Nice item, potential handle issue.

Sound quality is great. The membrane stands up to heavy use. However, the handle broke free from the body. Was able to glue it on.
