GREAT CONCEPT ...

Really good price for a BBQ grill scraper / cleaner. At the time of reviewing it the price is 12.99 for a scraper that will last the life of the BBQ. You really do not want to use a bristle type grill brush to clean your grill. Just read the horror stories of people ingesting a bristle by accident when it fell off the brush and was on the grill while cooking up a steak or something. Plenty on the internet, people have died from it. I wish it had a longer handle as it is 10.25 x 4 inches wide, 14 or 15 inches would have been better in my opinion. The scraper is made of a composite wood material. It is quite hard, and being so, it takes forever to burn the grill grooves into the scraper. I tried for about 10 minutes on a hot grill, and didnt even indent them at all. So I marked where i wanted the grooves to be by slowly rubbing it over a dirty grill, thereby marking the grooves with the grease from the grill. Then I had my husband use his Dremel with a sanding drum, sand the marks, making grooves almost .25 of an inch deep. I then tried it again and I was able to put pressure on the scraper and clean the grill well. However it still only burned in the maybe the thickness of a piece of paper extra into the scraper. That being said, it will probably take 100 BBQs before I get it burned down about .5 of an inch or so, literally. half an inch or so is where I would like to see it so it cleans well into the sides of the grates. So to sum up this scraper, I really like it, after manually removing some material so it fit into the grates, it works really well. But I removed 1 star because it is a little shorter than I prefer, as well as having to take a Dremel to get the grooves started was something I was expecting to have to do. I think I would have got frustrated and thrown it away with the amount of time it would have taken to get the grooves in the way they state, to rub it onto a hot grill to wear / burn them in. So if you start the grooves in some sort of manner as I did ... you are all set. It works well and I believe I will be using this scraper from now on, and I expect , do to the fact it burns in so slowly, It will outlast my BBQ. So now what to do with the 5 other BBQ brushes I have, lol. I hope this helps in your decision making.

Smaller Than Expected

This grill scraper is much smaller than expected and the first picture on the ad does not match the item I received Quality is good and the price is reasonable however it's just too small.

Smaller than expected. I love that it isn’t made of metal, so no risk of getting stray pieces of metal in our food. Easy to clean and easy to use.

The works just as well as a cedar scraper at a lower price. No flaking off and no residue on the grill. The tapered tip helps get the grooves started quickly
