Three things we need to get clear. If you need to know how to operate this, I have instructions. Some of the reviews are coming from people who don't understand how a slushie machines work. 1. This product works, but the instructions are terrible. Don't go by everyone's reviews saying "product doesn't work." The product does work, they just don't know how to operate this simple machine. Here's what you do. Take Kosher salt and put enough in the bottom of the metal nonstick tin to cover the bottom of the tin (about 2 Tbls). Next fill with cubed ice about halfway. Pour more salt on top of that, but about half as much you put in the bottom. Then fill to the top with ice. Turn the switch on to freeze. When you hear the machine start to sound like it's scraping, its working. As the ice starts to melt just top it off with more ice. Try not to let it get to less than 3/4 full of ice or it takes longer to get the liquid to freeze. No need to stop the machine, just put the ice cubes through the top hole when you see it less than 3/4 full. Once it starts to slushify the ice will melt slower so you won't have to top off as often. I would say I have to top it off twice before the drink is frozen. Takes about 15 minutes. Once you get your slushie to the consistency you want, flip the switch to dispense and pour your drink. Let me be clear, if you want to have more slushie later, flip it to dispense. If you let it keep running on freeze, it will keep making the slushie to freeze, making it really thick causing it to feel like a job to drink it rather than a pleasure. Long story short if you like your slushies less wet, let it run on freeze. If you like them a little more wet and easier to drink through a straw, every 10-15 minutes switch it from dispense to freeze. 2. I love this machine. Like I really love it. Not sure why everyone has had so much trouble trying to figure this out. The liquid freezes to the outside of the metal and as it turns, the plastic blades scrape off the frozen product causing it to slushify. Here's my only problem. The main gear that makes this process possible is made out of cheap plastic. If the drink gets too frozen it causes more tension on this gear. You'll hear the machine get much louder, eventually you hear it jam, and crack. The result is a useless machine. So be aware of that if you walk away from it for too long, this could be something you'll experience. I have requested a replacement machine, and I'm hoping that I have better luck with that gear. If it happens again I'll be looking for a new product with a design that promises longevity. 3. Don't buy the expensive syrups. Or any syrups for that matter. Even the Icee brand syrups arnt worth it. It's misleading. You can turn anything into a slushie. Gatorade, Coca-Cola, Cherry Coca-Cola, Root Beer, Dr Pepper, Mountain Dew. Anything that's a liquid drink, you can turn into a slushie. You can get a 2 Liter soda, or canned sodas and pour it into the pitcher part of the machine and it will slushify. It's at 1/10 of the cost of the syrups and tastes much better. Ill be honest, I bought a 4 pack for $32.00 from Icee, and it made 4 pitchers. I can buy 5 Two Liters for about $7 and get about 10-15 slushie pitchers full. Even if you have a flat soda you can still use it in the machine and it tastes the same, if not better. Awesome for the family movie nights if you follow these instructions Good Luck Everyone!!!

Definitely works well for the price!
My daughter has been asking for a slushy machine for months but initial searches I was only seeing $400+ industrial machines. For $50 I was willing to give this one a try. So far we have made slushies on 3 different occasions, first with Simply Lemonade, and twice with a mix of Florida OJ and Simply Lemonade and it definitely works! As others have said, it’s pretty loud, comparable to a budget blender (not as loud as a high speed blender). The instruction say it can take up to 15 min but following the directions with a half cup of table salt and half cup (plus some extra to dissolve all the salt) of water with crushed ice (from our fridge door), we’ve had good slush consistency within 10 min each time. For cleaning, the whole beverage part comes off of the motor base and we just rinsed it all in the sink and lay the parts on a dish towel to dry (4/5 stars for “easy to clean” because you can’t put it in the dishwasher but rinsing has been pretty easy). Overall can’t complain! I don’t think you’ll find a better deal for a basic slushie machine.

Works good
Still learning the ratio of ice and salt, slow to slush up. Takes longer then the book says, but good quality

Great Addition To The Kitchen
The kids love it and I am having a good time with it as well. We have tried different sodas and juices, with Root Beer being the best result so far! I wouldn't recommend home made sweetened ice tea as that did not freeze properly. There was probably too much water content and not enough sweetener? It is easy to clean given that I do not clean the inside of the metal canister thoroughly. It only holds salt, water and ice, not something we actually consume, so I'm not as concerned with that. If you do want to clean the inside of the canister, it would be a tough task. I would recommend that you add the salt, ice and water to the canister before putting it into the blender. It's just easier that way, and you don't have to worry about dropping salt into the part where you add the soda/juice. My only complaint which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the machine is loud. If you're in the kitchen with a couple other people chatting, it's loud and people start talking louder to hear each other. I try to run it in the garage if I can.

Could be better but was okay
I wanted this to be more than it was. Two biggest problems. - It is Loud! I thought this would be great for hosting and making frozen drinks but I couldn't imagine that noise going while having people over. - It froze up and jams when the ice built up on the cylinder. The liquid was not yet all slush but the cylinder had ice build up and stopped it from rotating and started making a clicking sound. Overall Taste was great. It was easy to use and clean. It just isn't worth owning for me. Its a 50/50 thing. But I personally wouldn't discourage anyone from purchasing. I get why people like it.

Not working as described.
Not working as described. If you want slushy to be nice and thick, you'll need at least 30 minutes of mixing constantly adding fresh ice and remove water. NOT EASY TO USE AT ALL! AND IT IS NOISY AS HELL!!

Cute and great!
It's great, it's easy to use and clean, it's noisy but well, most juice makers and mixers are.

Ça prend beaucoup de sel de table
C’est facile d’utilisation mais j’aime moins la quantité de sel qu’on doit ajouter pour fabriquer la slush.

Doesn't work. Don't waste your money.
Simply does not work. It will get your drink cold but that's about it. If you want a loud af machine that will get your drink cold in like 40 mins then this is for you.
