So far so good. Velcro adhesion is terrific, really holds onto pad.

Overall good. Noted a small area that seemed to have been repaired on one edge of the pad, but it does not seem to influence the nature or use of the pad.

Good replacement so far

This is my 3rd disc pad replacement. The urethane foams typically used don’t hold up in humid So Flo it seems. Original pad lasted nearly 20 years when I lived in Maine. A few years in FL and it disintegrated. I got a 5 hole standard electric pad that lasted 4-5 yrs just recently coming apart. I got this pad and so far it’s working well, it’s a bit firmer but I like it. Been doing a good job on mostly flat cherry I glued up for a bed headboard. Also did some 150-180 grit sanding on the turned posts. A softer pad would be better but I managed ok and the round posts look good. The old porter cable sander is built like a tank and runs great, so it’s good there are 3rd party replacements at reasonable cost. It looks like it’s a quality foam, but only time will tell if it’s more durable. Update - 6 weeks of fairly regular use and it’s holding up well. Most all my psa discs are solid, no vac holes so I don’t need the perforated discs. The add-on vac attachment for my old P-C is like a shroud over the disc area and it works well enough without the holes. I have nothing planned after this project so will be interesting to see if the foam lasts longer than the previous pad when sitting in storage.

Amazingly fast results

I've been claying my cars for years using, as you might expect, clay bars. Recently I've been getting fine particulates in the paint of all my cars, almost like a paint overspray. Polishing hasn't helped, and claying this off the pain has been a ton of work even in small areas. It took me 45 minutes to finish the hood of a black Fiat 500 using standard clay. Because this was so labor intensive I thought I'd order a clay wheel I could use with my Porter Cable polisher. When this arrived I decided to try it by hand just to see how it compared, and holy cow! Even by hand this cuts far, far better than my clay bar. I did the trunk and rear fenders of my BMW Z3 in literally 2 minutes. By hand. Just spray with your favorite lubricating finisher or use soapy water. I could not believe how smooth and consistent the results were in basically 2-3 swipes over an area. I'm not sure I'll use this with the polisher now. I might just use it by hand it's so easy. I HIGHLY recommend this clay pad.

What can I say about backing pads other than firmness, durability, balance & cost/value? These pads check all the boxes. But them, you won't be disappointed. At least I am not. Top marks all around.

Wish they would last longer

This is a very good product, for a very good price, but being what they are, a nice soft medium to attach to electric or air powered random orbital sander that can oscillate over flat or round/curved surfaces to be sanded with either heavy or fine sanding material, they have to be flexable where they touch the surface, this makes the flexing around the edges extremely prone to vibrations and flexing at thousands of times a minute especially when using 125PSI air driven random oscillating machines like the Ingersol Rand type of sanders which are an excellent machine for doing curved surfaces. This is a very good product, maybe someone will develop a new flexable membrane someday to replace the yellow foam to make the product a five-star go-getter. Regards Den..

WILL REPLACE YHE RIDGID R.O. SANDER PAD NO LONGER AVAILABLE FROM HOME DEPOT.

This product was purchased to replace the 6 inch orbital sander backing from Home Depot. Home Depot no longer supplies parts for their product. With the creation of a flat wrench to slide between the pad and the new part I was easily able to rethread the original bolt hole and screw in the new and much less expensive replacement pad ( About 20% of the cost of the Ridgid product if it was available. The sander does an excellent job but needs the tooth surface replaced every few hundred hours.
