String

I was hoping to get the old style that used a chain for retraction instead of a string. Works fine but doubt the string will last long as much as i use it

Good quality

So strong and works well

Bought it for work because I used to only carry a couple of regular keys on a wrist coil, and later on my ID lanyard, but I recently got a new job in which I carry a few regular keys and an electronic key fob for my new office. It would've been too heavy on my lanyard, and even on a wrist coil. I wear pants most days. Not all of my pants have strong waistbands but most do, and the clip is tight and secure. The retractable cord is super strong. Sometimes I wear dresses. I can clip it to a pocket in one of my dresses. When I don't have pockets on my dress I carry it around lol.

Holds multiple keys without issue

My husband needed this to hold his shop keys. He has a big ring of keys and this key ring holds them without the reel pulling down on it's own.

Much better than the chain version

I owned a chain type Key-Bak for several years and although I enjoyed the convenience it provided, It had a few flaws in my opinion. I bought the one with a chain because I figured it would be the most durable and it did seem to be built well. One of the problems was that It would tend to get jammed from time to time. I don't know if fuzz would get in there or what, but I would have to pull real hard to get it working again and then it would be fine for a while. My other complaint is that the chain would slowly saw away at my jackets and shirts. I wore it on my belt and most of the locks were above my waist so I would have to pull it upwards when extending the chain. Any clothing that hung below my waistline and over the Key-Bak such as the waist hem on a jacket would start to get cut up by the chain running across it. I learned to pull up my clothing before pulling out my keys but it was a bit inconvenient. After several years I was surprised to find one day that the metal swivel on my Key-Bak had broken where the key ring connected to the chain. I rigged it up to make it work for a while but that was what made me look into buying another type. I was reluctant to buy the Kevlar string version but that really seemed to be the best answer to my damaged clothing issue. I've been using it for several months now and it works great. The string seems very strong, it's longer, no more jam ups and no more damaged clothes! I hope it lasts many years

Great item, but with a potential quality problem

I just received my key reel and was very impressed with the ease in which the Kevlar cord retracted - it's great. It has the extended reach I need and it supports the weight of all eight keys without any un-retracting (sag) by itself while hanging on my belt. It's so easy and smooth to extract and retract, I love this item. The reason I gave it only four stars is it arrived with the Kevlar cord frayed at the keyring connector. I don't think it will last very long before the frayed cord lets loose and I'll have to purchase another. I will update this review in one year to let you know the status or sooner if the cord breaks before then.
