Game changer!

This is our third year with our Coleman pool, and we used the pump that came with it the first two… Last year our cover ripped due to 10 inches of snow… so our pool water was like Shrek’s swamp.. So we obviously had to purchase a new cover when we closed it last year. But it took me over 3 weeks and at least 10 gallons of liquid shock to get the pool somewhat cleared up.. We said we’re upgrading our pump from the paper filter to this one and when we took the new pool cover off, we had a bad algae bloom due to the heat spike here in the Midwest… cover should’ve been taken off like two weeks ago to prevent that… but life happened and so we skimmed the top off and got the hose in the pool to fill it above the inlets so we can start getting the pump full of water.. we got it filtering and used what liquid shock we had left over from the year before, which was one full gallon and 3/4 of one.. within 30 minutes of us running to the store to get more shock and algaecide, the pool was already clearing up. Not even 24 hours later and only 1 gallon of algaecide, 5 gallons of liquid shock, the water is CLEAR!!! I’m going to vacuum up the dead algae and throw in the rest of my chemicals and it’s ready to go! It’s super easy to function. Backwashing doesn’t take long at all. Even with how disgusting the pool was, we only had to backwash a couple of times. I’m completely sold on this pump and I wish I had it last summer when I was trying to clean out Shrek’s swamp! It’s a must to upgrade if you have a paper filter pump that came with your pool.

Easy to install amd soooo much better than the cartridge filters

Two years ago I bought an intex above ground frame pool that just came with a little cartridge filter. It was obvious immediately that the one that came with the pool wasn't going to cut it, so i bought a bigger cartridge filter which worked fine, except i had to change the filter weekly because it would clog up and i couldn't get the gunk out of it. This gets expensive fast, and stores sell out of them sometimes. This year i had a huge mess to clean up because i let the pool go while I was deployed. I decided to upgrade again to this sand filter. I'm so glad i did. It took some work vacuuming and adding clarifiers over the course of a week or two, but with the help of this filter my pool is sparkling again. The sand was $20 at home depot and will last 3-5 years. Backwashing/rinsing is easy, and the hoses that came with my intex pool worked with these, so i didn't need to get anything else. Best pool accessory ive ever bought.

Awesome and powerful pump for a decent price.I recommend you buy it!

This is a great pump for a great price. I am so happy with this pump. It's one of the best purchases I have ever made from Amazon. This thing is an extremely powerful little awesome pump and filter. No more cleaning paper filters for me. Thank you Intex for making a great product. Now only question is how long will it last. It does come with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty so that's wonderful! If you are wondering if it is a worthy buy, YES,JUST BUY IT. It will definitely save you time and money as it is already saving me money because I have not had to add as many chemicals as I did with the poor little pump that came with my pool as well as not needing to clean my filters daily just to keep my water somewhat decent and moving. I bought this pump to go with my 18' x 48" coleman vista steel above ground pool. It works wonders for my pool and my wallet. So far I have noticed, the pump creates a vortex tornado motion which makes all of the leaves and debris circle to the middle of the pool where I just scoop it up.This pump definitely keeps the water moving which is great for many reasons. One that algae doesnt really get a chance to sit if you are treating your water as needed. Two, distributes and keeps chemicals moving and less likely to settle to the bottom. Three will save money on many extra unnecessary chemicals because it will help keep water balanced and no need to keep cleaning and replacing filter cartridges. I ordered this pump ,which was supposed to take 3 weeks to arrive, it arrived in less than a week of my purchase date. Nice, I know, I am happy with that. Set up was very easy. Much of the parts are already put together. Be cautious as the seal rings are in tact and you dont want to lose them. All you need to do is connect the filter debris basket, pump and sand bucket to the base. Connect the hoses to the pump as directed. I did NOT need to purchase any extra parts or fittings because I connected the hoses to the hoses that came with my pool. You'll also need to connect the adapters to your pool. Make sure that you grease all of your rivets with vaseline or petroleum jelly as recommended by intex. You will need to buy 20 grade silica sand ( it does not come with sand) . Approximately 2.5 ,50 lb bags filled my sand pump to the recommended level, which I picked up for $11 usd at my local pool supply store. And the best part is you dont need to change filters frequently because this sand will filter your pool for 2-5 years. I wouldn't recommend that you use any sand except what is called for. I almost purchased the clorox brand pool filter sand but was steered to follow suit with what intex recommended plus many reviews on the clorox pool filter sand changed my mind. When adding sand make sure that you use the piece to cover the pump hole as you DONT WANT to get sand in your pump. It will help to distribute sand evenly around your sand bucket. First setting up is it is recommended that you rinse and backwash your sand filter pump to get best performance out of your sand filter pump. I've added a skimmer with a filter sock to my pool which also increases my pools ability to stay clean and save me from extra work. The pump comes with 6 settings. RECIRCULATE closes off filter basket and sends same unfiltered water back into pool which I use when adding chemicals to circulate and distribute chemicals evenly around the pool without settling to the bottom I use it for 30 mins to about an hour. This setting is also great for long trips away from home. Then FILTRATION which I use after circulating chemicals around pool to start filtering algae, debris etc. This setting cleans your water. WASTE- exactly what is. It sends out dirty water that you dont want back in your pool or filter. RINSE,almost exact same as waste ,rinses your sand.BACKWASH, also pretty much the same as waste. Sends junk and dirty water out of your pool. CLOSED, closes off all water flow to pool and pump. I would recommend this pump . It does its job and soo far I am very pleased. I havent had leaks , as I believe if you follow directions as instructed you will not have any issues. The price is well worth the purchase. Saves money, time, work, chemicals and it works as well as those high priced filter pumps. If this pump lasts only a couple years it still is worth the money it will save you ,and has saved me in only a few weeks. It does what it says it does and that includes all the time I was spending trying to balance and clean my pool l. I am happy , and i hope that this review helps you and gives you the answers you are looking for.

fragile but do the work so far.

I installed that pump on a SummerWave round 15 feet above ground pool. I reused the SummerWave skimmer but it need to be significantly modified to accommodate the pump that requires at least 1.5' intake so it doesn't get too stressed. I used cheap sand from Leslie's Pool Supply and it doing a great job, I particularly appreciate the fact that I don't have to change the paper filters so often, and also that the capacity of the pump is much greater so the pool gets clean in a very short amount of time. The timer isn't great, it seems to start at approximate time every day, later than the previous day everyday. Also, you can't program for multiple time a day. I solve the issue by using a smart plug and programmed it on Google (Alexa would do the same) so it runs for 1 hour every 4 hours. The building quality isn't great, the plastic used to support the filter is very fragile and break while I was filling it with sand. it still works with it broken but it tells a lot on the durability.

First time sand pump filtration system owners here! This is by far the best system we've owned for our pool. Simple to use and it has great, easy to use functions such as the timers and booster mode for the chlorinator. The easy to read instructions make the step by step installation hassle free , for a system that gives you sparkling clear pool water that's inviting on the dullest of days. The pic is the second day with the pump system and water is krystal klear.

Works amazing!

This is my first year upgrading from the crappy little pump that comes with the soft wall pools and I am amazed! I have a 18” pool and well water and filled my pool with it for the first year ever instead of getting a water delivery. It was a mistake as the pool became an apple juice color. I got the pump hooked up and put it on a 10 hour timer. Got up this morning the pool circulation SO good and it’s no longer yellow! It still has a way to go but the pump is getting it done! Best $200 I’ve spent for sure! No more awful paper cartridges I wasted so much money on.

Intex sand pump is fantastic

Good side: the intex pump arrived a week before time. All the pieces of the pump was intact and in good working order. The pump itself is working great and has you can see the water is so much clearer than the cheap pump coming with any intex pool. I love it and we got it for 187.00$. It's really cheap compared to any sand pump on the market. Overall, I'm more than pleased with my purchase. Bad side : The only bad side was trying to find an adapter to connect the pump. So, I would stronger advise you to buy the adapter from intex they show you in you may also like. I bought to kit in thinking in case of if on break to replace it because you will not find those adapters in any store. Better have that in mind when you order your pump to order those adapter too. Another thing is the pump is a bit noisy so I would definitely make it work overnight not to disturb the neighborhood. You don't hear it with close door or windows.

Very Effective Filter System

Very effective in filtering water for a crystal clear pool, as I was using a canister filter prior to switching. Installation is easy but you need to pay attention to the instructions and watch videos online prior to assembly. As a system the filter is great but I think Intex should also include mounting adapters which you need to buy separately. I don't mind paying for the cost of the adapters but if they were included the hunt for them would've have been a lot easier as they are not always readily available. The Intex Adapter B are something you'll need if you're fitting this to a BestWay pool which uses a 1-1/4" opening. And the hose sizing of the intext system is not 1.5", it's 2" if you base it from what the hardware stores sell. Be aware of sizing as it can be confusing and misleading. Programing and functionality of the pump to turn on and the system is a bit confusing as I was in a locked out mode and could turn on system. Had to resort to online help forums to trouble shoot why my filter system wasn't running. Packaging could have been better as parts in my system were damaged in shipping. The star hub center piece is considered fragile and could be better insulated for shipping. I had to resort to repairing the hub and pipe myself with marine grade epoxy. Once you get the system up and running, it works good and effective to filter your pool so it's crystal clear. The noise isn't too loud so running it at night outside won't disturb your neighbors.

Awesome sand filter/pump

Upgraded the cartridge filter/pump that my Coleman 22 x 12 x 52 pool came with to the intex 14” sand filter/pump and couldn’t be happier.. water is crystal clear.. Did not need any hoses or adapters as the ones that came with the pool fit perfectly.. Instruction manual very clear and easy to install..love the timer function and going from 1500gph to 2800gph makes a huge difference !!
