Seems to work as advertised

We have a 40 gallon water heater and the issue we had was all 4 of us end up wanting to shower back to back at the end of the day which meant policing fast showers and trying to spread out 30 minutes between each of them which still doesn’t always work. I turned up the water heater to try and help but it still left us with not much. Since the water heater was just installed a year ago before moving in I didn’t really want to buy a new one and only could find 50 gallon ones so not sure that would make sense. I did some digging and thought this would make more sense. The install was only about 20 minutes. I had the plumbing part done and was working on the electrical work while my wife was in the shower and about half way through I had it turned on and she said she had to quickly turn the shower down as it got very hot all of a sudden. One note my house was built in the 70s and the wire going to the water heater was 12G on a 20 amp breaker. This did work for about 20 minutes but the wire did get hot and tripped the breaker which I thought it would. So I had to replace the wire with 10G and breaker to 30Amp which in my case wasn’t to big of a issue so before buying I would check what amp breaker u have and gauge wire going to your water heater and what it would take to replace it if needed. Once I got that fix I was able to turn the tank down to 120 degrees and the booster up to 140. Now we can all shower back to back and I tested it me being the last of the 4 to do so. I was able to shower and I still had hot water 5 minutes after being done. Even when I noticed it wasn’t hot hot anymore it was still comfortable enough to stay in and finish if needed. So I would say it does increase your hot water by about 50% making a 40 gallon water heater a 60 gallon one. As far as longevity I can not say yet but so far it seems to be a good alternative. I don’t know as far as energy savings but I would think having this on for about an hour a day is cheaper than having my water heater turned up to 140 heating it 24/7 or replacing the tank to 50 gallons heating more water all the time.

Easy to install for some who has never done any plumbing work.

Installed easily, not waiting to see if it actually maintains 120degF and provide extra 40% supply of hot water. I've set the water tank to 100degF and the booster to activate at 115degF with max temp of 120degF

Pretty Good!

My 66 gallon water heater was 20 years old. I figured any day I would find a flooded garage so I decided to change it but the biggest residential units now are only 55 gallons. I bought a 55 gallon but then started having anxiety about running out of hot water in my house of 5. I started researching tankless heaters and started laminating not going that route but then I found this bad boy. Don't let the term booster fool you it's a essentially a small tankless water heater that kicks in when your tank starts to run out of hot water. The advantage here is that you don't have to run new wiring to add a tankless to your existing tank system. If you live in one the hotter parts of the country were the tap is warm enough chances are this thing alone can give you a hot shower even if your tank is all cold. I know because I took a shower right after installing it with my new tank. Off course it's summer and I live in the south so the tap is pretty warm already. The true test will be in winter. The only thing I don't like is that after the system is idle for a while the first bit of water it detects is what's sitting in the pipe between it and the tank. This little bit of initial cooler water is enough to to trigger the the unit on before being turned off again as the hot tank water hit's it. This causes it to constantly power cycle my tank for just a second almost every time I turn on the hot water. Whish it had a little bit of a delay before activating so it wouldn't be so quick to initially turn on once it detects water flow.

Great way to save energy and insure plenty of hot water!

I have a "dumb" basic hotwater heater. I bought and installed this because it (1) lets me set the hot water heater at a lower temperature and heat it to a higher temperature on an on-demand basis (2) lets me set the hot water heater at a lower temperature over night and (3) have a vacation mode which turns off the water heater except when it needs to be on to prevent freezing. All this saves energy without sacrifice. It is a well-made product. I installed it myself but only do so if you are confident in your basic plumbing and electrical Know-How.

I got this to save on gas, works great

I got this to save on natural gas, Since my electricity is cheap/free from solar, but I don't want to get a expensive new tank yet. So I turned down the temperatures to 95F on the gas controls, and this can boost it up to 120F for showers. once in a while I turn the temp up past 140 to prevent any kind of infection in the tank. also I get more hot water. its great. All that is needed is to get some push to connect fittings to stab it into the existing pipes and run 10awg wire to a 30 amp breaker in flex armor cable, was a decent DIY job.
