Pedal face must be flat!
My pedal had a recess that housed the reflector. It was easy enough to pop the reflector out, and that left two holes for mounting the toe clip, but because of the recess the short bolts that came with the toe clip would not reach. I had longer bolts (I have drawers of junk like that). But as I tightened them, because of the recess, the clip started to deform. So I had to fashion a spacer to fill the recess. That done I was able to attach the toe clips. I like them. They certainly help keep my feet from flying off the pedals when I am going down hill and forget which way to work the shifter (ie all the sudden the pedals are going too fast when I shift the wrong way), or when I am bouncing over a washboard gravel road, but if you don't have a workshop full of junk, you may have trouble if you don't have flat faced pedals.

Get fit
Love these toe fenders. My feet was slipping off pedal and made riding my bike miserable for me. I'm so happy I purchased them. I love riding my bike now and it has helped me improve with my pedaling, speed and overall performance. Will definitely purchase again if needed.

Big and roomy - great for leisure rides
These clips are easy to get in and out of and fit big athletic shoes. The only problem with the large size is that they scrape the ground on occasion when not is use. I was able to install these clips on plastic, flat pedals by drilling two holes in the pedal.

Check your pedal!.
Couldn’t use the product as is. Some modifications are required or different pedals.

Great product, super durable and works as advertised.
I am not a crazy cyclist, but have been biking close to 100 miles a week. I noticed my feet kept slipping while changing gears and when hitting bumps etc. I wanted something cheap and easy to keep my feet on the pedals. These clips worked perfectly. I read other reviews about not fitting and something to do with a small steel plate not fitting either. Wasn’t sure if they would fit but looked at my pedals and it seemed like the two small holes would line up pretty close to where the mounting holes on the clips were. I ordered them hoping for the best. Turns out, they fit perfectly. The mounting hardware was the proper length and all I had to do was line up the mounting holes and install. For added security, I did add a small washer on the same side as the screw head, but I don’t think it is required. After a few rides, they align my feet on the pedals nicely. Not too far forward and right on the balls of my feet. They really keep my feet nice and snug but not like a full clip so I can easily slide my foot out at stop lights if need be. I have never used full clip in pedals so I can’t speak to them helping with the “upstroke” or the pulling up style of cycling but they are very secure and the plastic is nice and beefy. I would definitely recommend these as a cheap middle ground before getting into a full clip-in style pedal and shoe. Easy installation and works exactly as advertised. I would simply caution the user to make sure your current pedals have the small holes near the front to mount.

Great for commuting, and urban cycling.
I started biking again 2 months ago. When I bought my Trek bike it came with a set of Crank Bros Eggbeaters, which I didn't find practical for NYC urban riding. The first thing is that you have to make sure you have platform pedals with the proper screw holes which will allow you to install these clips. I bought a pair of MKS Sylvan Touring Pedals from Amazon.com and I'm very satisfied. As soon as I put my feet inside the clips I could feel a difference. Yes, it does help you a lot when you pedaling. My pattern is now more uniform, and I'm inputting energy whether I'm pushing the pedal down or pulling up. It's very easy to take my feet out of them too, which is very importing if you bike in a area like NYC. It took me less than a few minutes to learn how to insert my feet in the clips and although this was my first ride with them I can do it without even looking down most times. Also, I keep my right foot in when I have to stop and only take my left foot out, when it's time to start pedaling again I then insert my left foot. The good things is that if you have two-sided platform pedals when can pedal on the opposite side of the pedal just to get you going, and once you're moving again then you can proceed to insert your foot, so yes, very easy to use, and they do give you more speed. If you do pedal on the the side opposite to the clips, do not do it on a curve, as you will scratch them against the pavement. On this ride I was wearing sneakers, but I also put on my dressy shows size 10 (USA) while I was at home and didn't have any problem doing any of the things that I mentioned above. In regards to the quality. The pedals are plastic, I just got them but they feel pretty sturdy to me, so I don't think they're easily breakable, and they're also very cheap. One last thing. I wouldn't say that these are beginner clips. I know that some people that have expensive road bikes and wear spandex might think these clips are garbage, but they're for a different purpose. A lot of us are not interested in getting clipless pedals and clips with straps because we're practical riders. I also have a review on the MKS Sylvan Touring Pedal Double Sided.

Keeps the foot from sliding forward
We bought 2 sets of these for our rail trail bikes. We have the standard platform pedals on our bikes, and our foot kept sliding forward during rides which isn't ideal. We just wanted something to keep our foot in place without going to a full clipless pedal. These are perfect! The foot stays in the optimal spot for power transmission to the pedal while allowing for easy removal of the foot when coming to a stop. You're also not hindered from having the foot come out in the event of a spill off the bike since there's no straps on the sides to keep your foot in. They're super easy to install also which was a nice added bonus.

Terrific
These are pretty great. I've ridden 2000KM in them so far and absolutely love them! For the past 20 years I've been riding MKS toe cages on RX-1 pedals and have now switched to MKS Urban Platform pedals with these Foot Fenders and much prefer them. I will say that I wear shoes with very wide toe boxes ("barefoot shoes"), usually made by VivoBarefoot. Those shoes work much better with these Foot Fenders compared to the traditional toe clip/cages, which are too narrow for those kinds of shoes. Highly recommended.

Better than traditional toe-clips
I've been riding with these for a couple of weeks now, and been very happy with them in every regard. I came across these while looking to replace my traditional toe-clips - the nylon toe cage on one of my old clips had broken - and had never seen their like. The idea seemed great - no dangly straps to adjust or to catch on things - so thought I take a chance on them in spite of the fairly high price. Installation took less than 10 minutes. I find entrance and egress from the clips to be very natural, and even easier than traditional clips as your foot is really only contained on the vertical axis, allowing you to pull your foot out by sliding straight back OR to the side. The toe box also seems a little taller than in traditional clips, which works ideally for me as I have them on my mountain bike and alternate between running shoes and hiking shoes, depending on where I'm riding. Recommended.

Perfect for what I needed
My sister and I attempted a "try a tri" this summer and I didn't want to get too hardcore with the special shoes and stuff, especially because I didn't want to have to change shoes multiple times and wanted to do the running portion in my regular shoes. So I got these pedal cover/toe clip things and they worked perfectly. They're easy to get in and out of, but still make me feel secure when riding my bike. I suck at putting things together, or building stuff, and I was easily able to put these on myself, so you know they're pretty straightforward. A great addition to my bike.

Great for the causal rider
Got these for my wife’s catrike, she can put her feet in and forget about her foot placing on the pedal while riding without having to deal with the clips. Sturdy and light without feeling like you are strapped in. Great for shorter rides or when you need to get on/off your bike at multiple stops.

Great for Mountain Biking!
I bought a pair of strapless toe clips before, but they were too long for mountain biking, I kept catching them on tree roots and rocks until eventually one of them broke off. These are great! They are short and stubby and I don't catch on anything and they are also nice and wide to cover my whole foot. Love them!
