Thinner than standard washers
I used this product to reinforce carriage bolt heads, going through sheet metal. I did file the holes square to fit the bolts

No insights from a master baker here
I haven't made any breads from the book and I don't plan to. I can tell from looking at the formulae that it's unlikely that these are the ones used by Kayser to created his award-winning breads. For instance, the baguette recipe calls for 11 minutes of mixing, with no folds. This is likely to produce a highly oxidized dough, bright white, rather than the creamy tan color that a lightly mixed dough produces. The texture is also likely to be closer to that of supermarket bread, with a fine, regular hole pattern, rather than lots of large, irregular holes. Also, I suspect his instructions regarding the sourdough starter are very incomplete compared with what he himself uses. It looks very generic and I'm not sure it would even work. Creating a starter in four days that's good enough to use would be a bit challenging. The cynical side of me wonders if this book was written by some staffer and Kayser's name slapped onto it; there's just nothing special or insightful here.

Nice wide washer
Served its purpose but I thought it would be a little thicker. Overall it got the job done for what I bought it for. As noted in the description, these are hard to find.

Unorthodox use, but working well. Good quality and tough
Good quality. I used it for a completely different of an application though. Bought a large cat tree that has a particle board junk base. Once of the 'stems' ended up ripping out from the cats jumping up and down. I glued the particle board and then reassembled the 'stems' with washers underneath so there is more surface area being affected. Haven't had another issue yet.

Hard to find? Hardly.
It's a washer. That's it. Do not understand where the hard to find came from. If you are thinking like I did that this washer will cover all the holes on top of an oil filter to make a leakproof solvent trap, you would be wrong. It does not.
