Big Wow

I’ve worn Levi’s denim for decades. All sorts of styles: 501, 505, 569, 541, 511, et cetera, et cetera. I didn’t have any problems with Levi’s. Until I got older and I started needing a little more room in the crotchetal area for comfort reasons. Unfortunately, Levi’s doesn’t make any reasonably priced jeans that have what I want, so I started looking at other makers. I stumbled on these by accident and took a shot when they were a little less than retail price. Generally I stay away from fabrics that are cotton and synthetics blends, but I saw that the crotch was gusseted and that the knees had articulation darts, so I tried them out. In terms of flexibility, so much better than any pants I’ve ever worn. They stretch, they bend, they don’t pinch *the wrong places*. As light duty workwear, they’re great. All the extra pockets are a nice bonus, too. The rise isn’t a true high rise, but they feel like a high rise because of the cut and the gussets. I will also begrudgingly admit that the synthetic fibers make them more breathable even though the fabric is about the same weight as a mid-weight Levi’s denim. For sizing, I ordered my usual 32x32. Brand new, they fit about the same as a pair of Levi’s, perhaps a little large in the waist but not baggy. Length was good as well. As with all garments, the copies you get may fit differently because of the piece of fabric or the person who was sewing on that particular day. They will shrink mildly in the dryer. I don’t know that I would use these as heavy-duty jeans, but for light work in a factory or outdoors these would be fine. Now, the only reason these are not five stars is the dye. I have both the indigo rinse and the ultra black color. On the indigo rinse there was a tag that very clearly said that the fabric dye would transfer onto light colored fabrics. I did not believe that tag. I was wrong. I’ve washed these things a dozen times, the fabric edges are fading, and the dye will still transfer onto light colored fabrics. Don’t sit on anything white, tan, or gray unless you want some nice blue streaks on it. I didn’t see a similar tag on the ultra black, and so far they do not seem to have the same challenge. As long as Vertx doesn’t change these jeans, I will buy them for work again. I’ll probably try one of the other colors next time to see if other dyes will transfer. If they don’t, I’ll probably make them my casual pants as well.

Probably the best so far but already wearing out

Size is generous. I wear a 36 and feel a little pinch with my carry with non ccw clothing. I bought vertx's 36 and this pair feels maybe a little too roomy with my carry in place. I'm not going to size down, I'm going to eat more, if I can afford to. America! Typical $$ jean dye, kind of itchy, bleeds everywhere. Go wash it. The fabric is better than the 5.11's Excellent cut. Pockets are better than the 5.11's. The knees are better. Front button is better. Zipper is on par or better. The labels and such with extra SERE features are a nice nod to needs of the guys that inspire this niche of products. Every hem and seam was good, no flaws, I checked. Some extra thread had to be trimmed but this is not a problem. I have worn these two or three days a week since I've bought them. I've washed them once a week. The rear pockets' corner plate is pulling the fabric apart and the manufacturer might consider some reinforcement in the rear lining. Durability is questionable, but maybe that's some super secret squirrel feature. Maybe it's to make you look undercover ratty by the time you get off the flight and in theater. All in all, not bad, very pleased overall. Will buy again. Will the manufacturer consider a run of big and tall (for a relative)?

Relaxed Tactical Jeans

I really like the material and feel of the Vertx Defiance jeans. They are relax fit and very similar to the 5.11 Defender Flex jeans. I use these for my IWC. For me, the gusset crotch make the Vertx jeans the better jeans. The craftsmanship and quality checking is a bit lax, but I find that common with a lot of Vertx pants.

Finally, a pair of "tactical" jeans that fit right

I have been writing to various tactical apparel companies for years asking if they would venture into making jeans that were not only functional, but made of a material that was lighter than traditional jeans but maintained the durability of denim. The fact of the matter is, even so-called "low-profile" tactical pants are not as low-profile as manufacturers like to think. Just not that many people are walking around in coyote brown or smoke gray trousers, even if they don't have a dozen pockets all over the place. Normal people wear jeans, which is why I am glad these have finally made their way to the market. If you need to present a casual look but maintain a very minimal level of functionality, you cannot go wrong with these. The main problem was, all the "other" tactical jeans were "straight" or "classic" fit. So when I tried those on I looked like I raided my wifes skinny jeans from her closet. Not only is slim fit unprofessional looking, it really restricts movement and you can't fit anything in your pockets, unless you want to put your smartphone in your back pocket the way your teenage daughter does. For whatever reason, the makers of these tactical jeans just were not understanding that the average wearer of these is probably going to have larger thighs, hamstrings, and calves, disproportionate to their smaller waist size. So that brings me to the first part of the review where I will actually talk about these jeans. Vertx had the good sense to make these relaxed fit, not straight fit or classic fit or your wife's jeggings fit. Now I will say they could still be just a tad bit looser in the upper leg, as I went up a size from my normal relaxed fit jeans and although I am swimming in the waist of the jeans, they fit properly around my upper legs without being overly tight or baggy. I can put something in my front pockets and its not printing through my pants like I'm wearing spandex. The leg opening is a good width, again I prefer a little bit wider leg opening at the cuff, but these still do not look like the "other" jeans out there where the leg is the same width all the way to the cuff and just looks silly. So although I would prefer these to be just a little more relaxed than they are, no other jeans out there can compare. So I recommend going one size up. (For reference, I'm 6' tall 220lbs.) I am a fan of the material, these jeans appear durable but have some slight stretch to them, all without feeling too soft and flimsy or like traditional denim that is heavy and takes a day and half to dry when wet. I've only worn them a couple times so far out and about, so I can't speak to how much punishment they'll actually take. However they seem well made. The colors are a bit of an interesting choice. You can choose from dark wash or dark stonewash. I got one of each and honestly they look pretty similar to me. If anyone from Vertx ever reads this, PLEASE make a light (read: very light) wash version of these! This is a trend I noticed with all the other tactical jeans out there: for some reason dark wash is the only color available. Even in regular jeans I have no idea why light wash is so hard to find. The price is maybe a little high for these, but they are worth it and I would buy them again (especially if Vertx tweaked them the way I mentioned). In summary: -These are the closest to a true "relaxed fit" you are going to find in a tactical jean--I went a size up and I'm glad I did (wish they were just a little looser in the leg!). If you tend to skip leg day, you could probably go with your regular waist size. -The leg opening is wide enough that you can wear it with high top boots and not look like a dweeb (again, not asking for bootcut width but a little wider on the leg opening would be perfect!) -Pockets are placed well and offer good functionality, while maintaining a low visual profile -Limited color selection is limited (make a light wash version!) -Price is on the high side of fair, so I'll slowly replace my old jeans with these over time

Just what I’ve been looking for

I struggle with normal fashion jeans as they never fit right. Took a chance on these as they were on sale. They fit just right around the waist and the leg length is perfect. I had to watch a YouTube video to find all 11 pockets and it’s safe to say 4 of them will never be used. The one thing I love with these jeans is the 2 mag pockets at the rear but to the side of the traditional real pockets, I use these for my phone which fits in there nicely and is easy to get in and out. I wore these to Comic-con and had no issues whatsoever. I am aware of other reviews saying they don’t last long, however I don’t really wear jeans often so for me these will last for ages.

Cuidado, la talla es bastante amplia [Actualización]

Es excelente el material. Cómodo y térmico (para cualquier clima). Mi problema es que es bastante grande y no da ninguna descripción de las tallas. Mido 1.81 y peso entre 95 y 100 kg pero uso normalmente 36x30 o 36x32. Pedí un 38x32 por que tengo piernas grandes y es mi principal problema al momento de comprar los pantalones, pero me quedaron extremadamente grandes. Si vas a comprarlos y tienes ese mismo problema pide tu talla normal Ok. Actualizando la reseña original. He usado estos pantalones varias veces más y tengo que decir que un problema muy real es que las rodillas se suavizan y se agrandan facilmente con simplemente estar sentado. No me gusta para nada eso

Vertx Defiance

Nachdem LMS Gear den Schnitt geändert hat und mir dieser nicht mehr passt, brauchte ich einen fähigen Ersatz. Als ich die Vertx Defiance dann für knapp 35€ gesehen habe, musste ich einfach zugreifen! Die Hose ist zwar für meinen Geschmack etwas weit an den Oberschenkeln, aber dafür ist sie Mega Bequem! Durch die Mesh Einsätze in den Taschen entsteht kein Hitzestau und das leicht "stretchige" Jeansmaterial trägt sich einfach wunderbar. Ich liebe die Hose einfach und werde mir noch mehrere kaufen!
