Needs a reminder dial like plastic version

This is specifically about the filter housing and not the Sprite filtration. If you like Sprite filters, get this. The plastic ones are basically disposable. I think this metal housing should cost about $20 less and include some kind of filter replacement month dial like the plastic models have. I think Sprite should stop making the plastic ones. Aside from us reducing plastic use, they are woefully easy to break (creating more plastic waste). I very much like the finish and quality of the unit. It has some heft, so don't put it on a loose fitting. I've seen no tarnishing on the unit. When I change the filter, I'll see if there's anything disappointing on the inside.

FAR more sturdy than any previous we've had

This was easy to install, does a good job filtering, and is nice and stable, so the shower head doesn't wobble when you take down the hose sprayer. That's always been a problem with previous filters we've used. We never go to the point where one needed changing, because they always broke beforehand. This also looks nice - like it's part of the shower head, rather than a big device lurking up there. My hair is pretty happy with this - it's finicky with hard water, but has been very cooperative since we got this!

helps with iron water but needs to be replaced more often

Update: I have been using this for over a year. The filter housing is holding up well. Looks as pretty as the day it arrived. I have to replace the filter every three months due to the biofilm buildup from the iron bacteria in the water. Still, my showerhead is working well and my water is great. Before purchasing this, I would ruin a showerhead a year from the holes being slowly clogged by the biofilm from the iron bacteria. My nice satin nickel showerhead that I bought around the time I bought this filter is working just as well as the day I bought it. Initial post: My well water is good quality except for crazy amounts of iron. It is not hard nor does it have other impurities. Until I buy a whole house iron filter (good ones are costly), this REALLY helps. I developed dermatitis in my scalp from the iron. Before I realized it was the iron, I was buying ketoconazole shampoo and "well water" shampoo, neither of which helped. I bought the handheld filter from Sprite first and it worked great. This filter is supposed to last longer before needing to be replaced. So far it works great. Dermatitis is gone. Haven't tried to replace the filter yet. If I have a problem, will update my review. Shower tiles have only trace buildup of iron residue since using the filters. The nickel finish matches by bathroom fixtures.

do your homework on slim vs high capacity models

Just a heads up = manufacturer needs to include dimensional schematics on this and their high capacity model = this model has a recessed female fitting that requires the male fitting from shower arm to project at least 1.25 inches = my shower arm is rectangular so did not fit = called company and they recommended high capacity (also needs schematic on that listing) which i will order and pretty sure will work picture shows my shower arm= male fitting projects 1/2 inch so no go on slim

Solid product, hard to unscrew

The filter housing is very solid and feels like it will last many many years. It came with a small amount of teflon tape and was very easy to install. My only gripe is that I wasn't able to actually unscrew the housing to look at the filter prior to install, this thing wouldn't give at all. Guess the silver lining in that I don't have to worry about leaks. Just not looking forward to replacing the filter in the future. Would buy again!

Cartridge Lasted Only 2 months With Minimal Use

The filter started leaking after a little less than 2 months. I remember reading somewhere about lubing the gaskets inside with Vaseline so I decided to see if that would work. It was VERY difficult to open the filter but I managed with a rubber gripper pad. I pulled out the filter and checked the cartridge life reading and found that it was already black and needed to be replaced. There are only 2 people who take showers in that bathroom and not even every day so I was shocked that it already needed replacing. There was A LOT of sediment surrounding the filter so I guess our water is pretty bad. Anyway, the Vaseline on the gaskets worked for stopping the leak; however, I had to clean a lot of dirt out first. Because the filter was so expensive I'm going to try a new cartridge and see what happens. This system is just too expensive to be replacing cartridges every 2 months after minimal use.

Amazing Craftsmanship!

This is an amazingly well crafted precision turned piece of solid metal. I couldn't be happier with it. It looks like a engine part. The threads are clean and tight, the exterior surface is prisine. I got the Satin Nickel and it matches well with the Kohler Vibrant BN and Danze BN as well. It's heavier than heck! And of course I love not being itchy and flaky from all the chlorine in our water. I have been a fan of Sprite since my first purchase 3 years ago, but this one is the absolute best yet! Worth every penny. And, it's nice that they include the first cartridge with it. You just need one of these and you will see....

Very happy with this product - looks great and noticed a difference with water quality

I just ordered the replacement filter for this product. Originally ordered because our water seemed to leave build up in our hair regardless of which shampoo we used - this didn't happen when we stayed at other's houses. This filter helped and looks fine (not exactly decorative but it matches all the other brushed nickel finishes really well). It's heavy and took a bit of twisting to install without any leaking (some plumbers tape too). I would recommend this and am looking forward to the arrival of our replacement filter (it's been over a year since we first installed it and have needed to replace the filter for a few months now).
