Size it’s perfect, very neat design!

Love this baby diaper container. I had the old school genie and I dislike the foot button to open it It makes noise and I hate the rings thing where the bags come in. I love the design of the ubi, the handle on top opens smoothly, no noise, bags are easy to change. Make sure you don’t over pack the container with dirty diapers because the bag can rip, almost happened to me but I manage to get it out without a mess. I learned the hard way :) go give this item 10 stars. I also order the regular small bags for when we’re on the go!

Okay product, great customer service

I know this thing isn't magic, it's just a diaper pail, but at this price point I expected it to hold up a little better. My littlest is 8 months old and I haven't even used this thing in 2 months because the rubber seal came off and after numerous attempts to get it back in place I finally got it, only to have it come loose the next time I opened the can. I really don't want to have to re-place the seal every time I change out the bag. Speaking of changing out the bag, I would say about 80% of the time the bag catches on the little edges that protrude from the rim and tears when trying to remove it and the piece that holds the top of the bag comes off almost every time. One of my real hopes for this specific product was that it wouldn't hold the smell like the previous plastic containers I've used. It does. I have to bleach it just as often as I did any of the other containers I've owned and at 3-4 times the price I'm not sure it's worth it. I do like that it uses regular garbage bags, but I'm not sure it's 4 times the price better than a regular garbage can. Especially as often as you have to empty it. **Update 01/20/13** Received comment from Ubbi in less than 24 hours asking me to contact customer service with my issues to see what could be done to fix my issues. Customer services take on the issues were as follows: Regarding the seal, bag catching, and bag holder detaching they concur those are results of design flaws and have offered to send me a replacement pail which is a wonderful response on the part of this company. They obviously recognize these issues with there product and are working to correct them as well as recognizing that customer are investing comparatively more in their product and want them to have a good experience. Regarding the issue I'm having with the smell, I got a long explanation about how the can will smell when you open it (which was not my issue. I absolutely expect it to smell when I open it to toss in a diaper or change the bag). The advice on that issue was to wait until the very last thing to throw the diaper away and then leave the room...not totally realistic when you have a grabby 8 month old on the changing table. My priority is to get the diaper off and out of reach as quickly as possible, but like I said the smell of opening it is expected. My issue was the can itself retaining the smell when in the product description it states powder coated steel doesn't absorb odors which I interpreted to mean that the can itself wouldn't hold the smell to the same degree as a plastic one. Which I remedy by bleaching or disinfecting the can. Their reply to this issue was that the can itself will retain smell no matter what, which I understand now but it would be nice to have a clearer explanation in the product description to give consumers clearer expectations. It was also suggested to me that I might want to flush the contents of a smellier diapers instead of placing them in the pail...they said the goal was to make my life easier...that particular suggestion does not make my life easier...the logistics of doing that while trying to wrangle and 8mo old just seems totally impractical. I was also advised not to clean the pail with anything except a dry cloth...I just don't agree with that. I understand it can cause rust. I'm okay with a little rust, I'm not okay with whatever is causing the can to smell and I honestly feel like it due to its contents it needs to be cleaned occasionally just like all my other trash cans so coming up with better cleaning suggestions might also be helpful. I will update on the new pail once it arrives. I do believe they have excellent customer service, and that gained them an extra star. I also appreciate their willingness to stand behind their product enough to send me a new pail. I think providing a more accurate and detailed product description would go a long way towards managing the expectations of the customers. Is it worth the cost? Personally I probably wouldn't spend my money on another one, but if you have realistic expectations of what you are purchasing the product is decent and the customer service seems to want to be helpful. If a friend asked me my opinion I'd tell them "it's an okay product, but at least the customer service is good"

This is sooo much better than the diaper pails with the special diaper rings. I can fit a 13 gallon trash bag in and it keeps all smells out of the room. It's so nice!

Great Product!

I think the idea of making a stainless steel pail is great! Not only is it easy to clean but the smell is well contained. I can even use my cloth diaper bag with this pail which was a major selling point for us! Cost is more than we wanted to spend, however it has proved to be worth it. Another plus, Amazon's shipping was super fast, especially considering the size of the thing! *In response to all the Negative Nellies out there...this product does not have magical properties. Of course it's going to smell when you open it, it's been holding dirty diapers! What matters is if it contains the smell when it's closed, which it DOES. (And which plastic ones do NOT.) Additionally, this is not a Mary Poppins bag! It's not bottomless, and it requires to be emptied on a REGULAR basis. Quit being lazy and empty your can before it gets so full you have to rip it out. These are NOT PRODUCT FAILURES, or reasons to mark a product down, deterring other people from having a great product, these are your own problems. If you are expecting magic in the real world, you have bigger issues than what to do with stinky poo. *Also, to help those of you claiming to have trouble with opening the sliding door...you must apply gentle downward pressure, THEN slide it open. With one hand, it works perfect every time. *This is coming from a mom of two, one who is no longer in diapers and the other a toddler with stinky boy poo. And who has previously owned plastic diaper pails that were less than satisfactory in the smell and clean departments. I hope this helps the sensible people out there.

A great product with a couple of quirks

Love this product! Does exactly what it claims. Locks in odor great. LOVE that you can use regular trash bags if you want. The lid lock is super nice. I like the lid opening. A couple of things that are NOT deal breakers but I dont love. Even though it's metal, it's kinda light and the lid is a little bit difficult to operate "one-handed" when the can is empty. A good seal keeps in the smell though so I feel like it's a fair exchange. Also, (full disclosure) I have not used the can with the liners that Ubbi sells, only regular trash bags and it works fine. However, the inner arm that hold the bag in place for the top lid will rip the can liner (at the back of the can) when removing a full bag if you are not careful. Maybe an engineer could come up with an arm that rounded at the hinge to prevent the corners from tearing the bag.. Overall, a great product that's much easier to use than others we've tried. 10/10 would buy again.

Delivers on promised features

I would probably give the bin 4.5 stars all things considered. It does a good job of preventing smells leaking from the bin (though when you open it to put a nappy in you do get a big, sudden "whiff" in your face before closing it again). We bag up all the poo nappies though not the wee ones and use our own biodegradable liners in the bin which seems a good set up. It's obviously one of the more expensive napoy bins to pay for initially but after tallying up the amount you could pay on the bin liners for some competitors bins over an average of 2 years (it's hundreds), we decided this was cheaper in the long-run. It's an attractive looking bin, with a useful child lock feature for those who like to put everything valuable into a bin and it is easy to clean. All in all we are happy with it and would but it again if needed.

Great purchase, no regrets, should last years and years.

Been using this for 2 months now so feel confident to review this. I was hesitant to purchase it at first because of the price for "Just a bin" but I couldn't be happier. It's sturdy and easy to use one handed. Sliding mechanism for the lid works well, and the main opening lid is a nice firm fit to keep everything contained. I never smell it despite sleeping the the nursery room with it! Perfect that you can use your own bags, just a standard 35l pedal bin liner from the supermarket is all you need. Fits a good amount of nappies before you need to empty it, I find I change the bag every 2-3 days, but of course every baby is different. One off investment for years of happy use for each child.

Does it's job

This does a great job of keeping smell out. 2 things I wish: 1. It was bigger so I don't have to empty as often. 2. The bag sometimes tears when pulling out as it catches on the back of the lid.

Looks good AND works

Easy to use one-handed, keeps smells in while closed (can open and drop a used nappy in quickly!), good height, well made, looks good - will use as bathroom bin when no more nappies, sensible size (any bigger and would get too heavy and potent for changing liner), can use regular bin bags, can put an air freshener inside if needed (space outside bin bag). Only negative is condensation on the lid if placed near radiator and full of wet nappies - but still kept smell in.

Blocks the smell when closed

This looks great and works well. Very glad I went with a bin that takes ordinary bin bags, friends have had to buy special refills for other bins and it’s end up costing a lot.
