TOO SMALL - compared to other TYR size 38 swimsuits - especially in the chest! Probably due to Durafast fabric

Very disappointed in this suit - it was way too tight. I almost couldn't get it on, and I have been wearing TYR size 38 swimsuits for decades. I almost cut the tags off and stuffed it in my bag (like I always have), but it looked small, so thank goodness I tried it on. I think the problem is the fabric. TYR used to be very consistent with their sizing, but I have been having problems recently (even within the same "Diamondcut fit" and Maxfit styles that I always wear - conservative cut). TYR suits used to be either Nylon or Lycra. They all had a similar fit, but they didn't last very long. They still have some of those, but their new Durafast fabric is a little confusing because advertisers don't always spell out exactly what it is, and it definitely affects the fit. I think I have it straight now: Durafast or Durafast One: 100% polyester - no stretch, lasts longest - VERY tight compared to the same size and cut with different fabric . The title of this suit doesn't say "durafast", so you have to look in the description to find that out. The next fabric is Durafast elite (94% polyester, 6% spandex - my favorite). It is tight when new, but not uncomfortable, and it has enough spandex to give a little wherever you happen to need it. I bought a different TYR diamond fit size 38 about a month ago and it fit perfectly when new. I have figured out that it is "Durafast Lite". It is 88% polyester and 12% spandex, and it might be a little too stretchy now that I have worn it for a while. It could have been tighter when new. They also offer TYReco: 80% Recycled Nylon/ 20% LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ fiber (not sure about how that fits - haven't tried it) and several others that I won't get into. The point is that you can no longer just buy a TYR size 38 in one or two cuts that fit best without trying them on. Now you have to look in great detail at the fabric too. This Durafast suit/100% polyester, in a 38, fit more like a 36 - maybe even a bit smaller. It would probably give some with wear, but I don't think I could take not being able to breathe during the break in period. If TYR is going to make all of these different suits in different fabrics that cause them to fit differently, they should have sizing charts for each type of fabric - or else make them all the same "size" regardless of fabric. I am returning this in exchange for a "Durafast elite" - same size, same cut, and I am fairly confident that it will fit right. So confusing for something that used to be so simple.

Holds up!

I lap swim for 30 mins 3x a week. This def holds up to the rigorous swimming and is chlorine resistant.

Color stays true.

Solid suit. The chlorine was super high at the pool, and the color has held strong. A bit snug because it is a polyester suit.

Love it, but a little small.

Great quality! It was a little tight compared to other brands though so I would recommend sizing up.

Too small but great quality

Amazing quality but I would recommend getting 1-2 sizes up to what you normally would on another website eg. Arena. But over all the product is exactly how it looks on the photo and feels like great quality
