Warped Shovel Base & Loose Handle

Bought two of these Suncast snow shovels because I had one for 10 years and it held up surprisingly well. I don't care for the 2 piece pole but it makes sense for shipping. Both handles on my new shovels were loose even after I tried tightening the handles screws. I believe if the handles remained loose they would eventually break from the sloppy wriggling whilst shoveling. I have read reviews from other users of this shovel complain of the handle breaking. To help remedy this potential problem I removed both handles and duct taped them going around the pole 4-5 times with the tape and then screwed the handles back on and it was nice and sturdy with no wriggling whatsoever. If you have this shovel and your handle is loose and decide to try this yourself it's important to put the handle back on the same way you took it off. What I mean is that the screws are put in the handle on each side slightly differently and the holes in the pole will only line up correctly the way the handle was originally put on at the factory. Hoping I get a few years out of these shovels before they break as most all of the plastic snow shovels I've read user reviews on seem to break fairly quickly no matter the manufacturer even if the manufacturer was known to make decent plastic snow shovels in the past. Please look at my photos for reference. I included my broken 10yo Suncast shovel for comparison as well as the bottom of the shovel is made a little bit differently on the new Suncast snow shovels.

Little Guy Gets the Job Done!

This is a replacement for the one I broke. I borrowed it from a friend because for whatever reason I thought living 45 minutes from Yosemite I would not need a snow shovel. Well, guess what ... I do!! We dropped multiple feet in our ridiculously long driveway. Of course, where do you park? but at the farthest end of the driveway from the road. So, getting to the point, my husband and I probably shoveled a few thousand pounds of snow with this little shovel. Unfortunately while shoveling my husband stomped his foot on the scoop part like you would with a digging shovel and cracked a tiny bit. I felt terrible that we cracked my very nice friend's shovel and replaced it with this same one. I figure if it can withstand the abuse we put it though it will work for her who has a 10 sqft driveway.

Perfect desiign.

I liked the curve shape and the long handle of this snow showel. I can use it without bending my back. I can stand straight up pushing easily. I had back surgery that I need to avoid bending at all times. This showel is very helful to me. Thanks to the designer.

HEAVY

I bought the original version of this shovel and have loved it for 3 years. I broke it this year (my fault) so bought this “updated” version. This one is bigger and WAY heavier. The handle is now a metal 2 piece instead of a plastic 1 piece which is why it’s so much heavier. Not sure how durable the 2 piece handle will be. Time will tell, but as of right now, I think the original was far superior. Why can’t manufacturers just leave well enough alone???

Narrow

I like everything about this except the width. Yes it gives the width. Works well, going to keep it. Heavier snow this will keep me from lifting too much.
