Has abput 10 cards in the box with no animal info. Looks like they cut 10 pics out of magaxines and put them in nice box full of styrofoam- not cards. Dont buy this.

As one who loves languages, and believes that it is easiest to learn other languages in youth, I do like the concept. (I cannot comment on using the flash cards with those who have learning disabilities.) 'Flash cards' have been popular and useful ways to introduce children to all subjects for decades, and the idea of learning a word in many languages was one I very much liked. Since I have not used my foreign languages in years, I hoped it would help to refresh my memory. I have three areas which are problematic. There are very few cards/words, and I would think one would have far more for $10. There is no guide to pronunciation - one could memorise, or enjoy seeing, the word one knows in a translation, without any notion of how it is spoken. There are two steps to looking up the meanings, which could be fun if children used the 'game element' in studying them together, but I found it awkward. Since part of the target audience described is those with autism and other disabilities, I would imagine that the structure is developed based on education techniques in those areas, and I'm not qualified to comment on this. Had cards such as this been mine in childhood, I'm sure that even learning a word by sight would have been interesting, but having no guide to pronunciation could lead to 'learning' a word with totally incorrect ways of trying to speak. I don't consider this to be an exceptional learning tool, or a good value for the price, but I say this with the reservation that it might be effective for those in special education, or who are guiding a group or child when they already are familiar with the language.

The system is a great idea. Subject matter is key.

Interesting teaching technique with the cards and pictures. Great idea as long as the subject material fits the student well. It needs to have a purpose. Sea life might be a stretch for most. The system is a great idea. Subject matter is key.

Lots of languages

The downside with these cards is that that they're pretty flimsy--about the same size and thickness as postcards. They're not laminated. I'm not sure how well they'll hold up to heavy use, but for the price that's not a dealbreaker. On the plus side, the pictures are colorful and clear. And they include 17 languages, including transliterations of languages that don't use the Latin alphabet. One of my daughters is studying Spanish and the other Russian, so that's perfect. I think these could have a lot of different uses.

Fun Learning

Well-made cards, colorful, and fun to learn with--great for one-on-one time. Children learn so easily when fun is part of the plan.
