Perfect replacement
There are various size latches that look the same. Make sure you order the correct size. I did and it was a perfect replacement. It did take minor adjustments. Since it was REPLACING a previous now broken one, the holes for the old one were larger than the screws that came with this one. Thus, I had to use old screws which were a bit larger than the accomading slot in the product through which the screws must fit. Mine didn't, but the material allowed screwing them through the product and then into the base that holds the latch. Another adjustment was that after installing it the open/close functioned well, but I had to force locking it. After that I could not unlock it without removing the door part. Turned out that the latch needed to be adjusted up a little to allow the locking mechanizm in the door to engage easily. The adjustments were easy and solutions ocmmon sense. Both worked and I am again happy that I hace a locking, sliding screen door that functions.

Poorly Engineered Sliding Screen Door Latch Assembly
I have a number of sliding doors on my house; each of the sliding doors also has a sliding screen door, which is a nice feature in the spring, summer, and fall. I can keep the glass sliding doors opened, and simply lock the sliding screen doors. However, when I purchased the house, one of the sliding screen doors was missing the striker, and the latch assembly was so badly damaged that it necessitated replacement. I ordered the striker kit separately, and then ordered the latch assembly. Installing the latch assembly isn't at all difficult, but trying to get it to operate correctly is "just a bit" of a challenge. The metal rod that slides through the door opening and into the latch assembly is held in place only by a cheap--and I do mean CHEAP--sliding handle that slides up-and-down on two plastic guides. So, once the latch assembly is installed, the metal rod (the part that latches onto the striker) does not move up-and-down in horizontal fashion. Instead, it rocks in the latch assembly, making the latching of the metal latch onto the striker almost impossible. If you're extremely gentle with the latch assembly, and move the sliding handle very, very, very slowly, you will get the latch to catch on the striker. But for the uninitiated (for example, if you have company at your house), they're going to operate the latch assembly as they would any other locking mechanism. And if they do operate the latch assembly in rapid fashion, the metal rod will tilt inside the latch assembly, and it will NOT catch on the metal striker. If I were the engineer who designed this latch assembly, I would have placed a horizontal, grooved plastic guide in the latch housing. With a grooved plastic guide, it would be virtually impossible for the metal rod (the part that latches onto the striker) to tip when the plastic handle is activated. Yes, I did get the latch assembly to work, but it took quite a bit of patience. In order to lock the screen door, I've got to move the handle extremely slowly until the metal rod starts to catch on the striker. And then I've got to keep moving the handle until I hear a very, very faint click. To reiterate: this is a very poorly designed system, and an overzealous person could easily break the latch assembly, simply because the only thing holding the sliding handle in place are two cheap plastic guides.

Does the job, but screws are weak and low-quality
As advertised, this was perfect for adding a latching strike to my sliding screen door. The latch strike itself is quite strong - it's diecast, solid metal. The screws, however, are made of some weak metal. The head of one of the screws broke off as I was screwing it in with what I considered a normal amount of torque. I spent quite some time trying and failing to twist the rest of the screw out of the hole with pliers, until I realized the metal was so weak I could easily snap it off and drill another hole. Be careful not to twist the screws too hard as you screw them in. Aside from that, it works perfectly as a latch strike, and great value for the price!
