Great products, but measure carefully.
These are great, but there's a weird thing about SharkBite's slip fittings -- the various product literatures from Sharkbite and the packaging each give inconsistent information about the insertion depth and gap to cut. (I found three different sets of numbers for the 1" slip valve.) So just measure it yourself, and know you've got it right. For example, this 1-1/4" slip tee: Is about 6-3/8" long overall You can measure the insertion depth at about 1-7/8" You can measure the slip side max insertion depth at about 4-7/16" So the minimum gap to cut out is about 2" (6-3/8" minus 4-7/16") and the maximum gap is about 2-5/8" (6-3/8" minus 2 x 1-7/8"). But don't trust my numbers, measure the one in your hands. These fittings are fantastic when repairing/modifying existing copper piping. You need a slip fitting when you can't shift the pipe(s) longitudinally at least one insertion depth. You still need to be able to shift a pipe transversely a little more than one pipe diameter to get the new slip fitting in. Great features (beyond how quick and easy they are): They work on wet pipes, even dripping (not pressurized) ones. Impossible for solder. They can be rotated during/after installation - great for elbows, tees, and valves. (With discretion, and not after it's been in place a long time. Don't want to risk damaging those o-rings.) Cautions: Copper pipe ends must have really clean square cuts and deburred ends. It is critical to avoid damaging the o-rings. Even a little nick can cause premature failure. They are subject to failure where there's a lot of vibration or repeated lateral stresses torquing the fitting. Sometimes you really need the rigid strength of a properly soldered joint. You can cheat a little on the insertion depth, particularly for temporary fixtures, but the more you do, the more vulnerable the fitting is to failure through shifting, vibration, or lateral stressing. So it's not really a good idea.

It works, but get the compression clamp to go with it.
When you push it on the pipe then attempt to pull it back to the other pipe, you have to first compress the round plastic to release its grip on the 1st pipe as you slide it onto the 2nd pipe. There's a cheap horseshoe tool you can buy, or you can buy the more expensive clamp. Buy the clamp! It makes it so much easier to release the grip on the 1st pipe as you slide it onto the other pipe. Remember, sliding it onto the other pipe still takes some force. That's why the clamp makes it easier to release the one side as you're shoving it onto the other pipe. Still took some force but I like that it fit the pipe very snuggly. No leaks.

Sweet and easy.
Snap, no crackle and no pop (well maybe a little). You pop it in or snap it in, slide it a bit back and you've just added a "T" to a WET 1/2 inch pipe. Very easy, very quick and very inexpensive. I've "sweated" copper pipes in the past and there's a reason they call it "sweat" because that's what you do while you're performing the procedure of connecting the copper pipes AND while you then turn on the water, wait and pray that there are no leaks coming out of the joined pipes. If there is a leak try getting the pipe PERFECTLY dry - NOT always easy - and start all over. The advantage of this device is that if the pipe you are attaching the T to is relatively immobile you cut out about a 2 inch section of pipe, SLIDE in one side and then slide it back on the other part of the pipe. This is a bad explanation so you should probably look at a YouTube video that will show you what's entailed.

Shark Bite works great
I have been using their fittings since 2012 to replace shutoff for hot water tank or adding shutoffs to zones. Look at my pics and you will see how little water gets through a saddle valve for refrigerator with ¼" opening. The pipe I took out for the slip tee I drilled a hole for comparison. I also bought the quarter turn shut off valve as well. Just clean the pipe well mark the 1 inch insertion and you are in business.

Does the job but watch out.
Disengaging the release on the fittings can be dangerous. It is very hard to push in all the way with the small composite tool provided to get the full release. Unfortunately for me, it was so hard, the fitting jumped out of my hand and flew into my forehead. Not so much pain but a small gash, It could have easily hit my eye. Therefore, at minimum, eye protection is advisable or a specialty professional tool should be used.

Amazing solution for splicing into tight places!
I had to splice a tee into a 1-1/4" cpvc pipe run for a supply line to a bathroom addition. I couldn't manipulate the pipe to cement the joints, so the SharkBite Slip Tee was a perfect solution. It has been in place now for 2 months under full water pressure and not a hint of a leak.

Great product!
I'd like to start with I am familiar with sweating copper from a DIY perspective, but I wanted to see for myself what SharkBite and PEX had to offer. My project involved hooking up a water-powered backup sump pump to an existing 3/4" copper line. I chose to go with SharkBite and PEX, and I am now convinced that it's great. I studied this Slip Tee adapter for awhile, trying to determine what sorcery prevented it from leaking after having installed it. I scoffed at the idea that I could slip this little device on to my existing copper and not experience any leaks. I was wrong. Not a single drop of water has exposed itself since installing this piece for close to 6 months. I'm sold on PEX, and I'm sold on SharkBite. Easy to install, reliable, straightforward.

Quick and easy
I needed to install a waterline for an ice maker. I used this to tap into the existing cold water line. It was pretty easy to use, I cut the copper as per the instructions, deburred it and made sure it was clean on the outside to make a good connection. Slid it on one way and then used the disconnect clip (One comes with this by the way, you don't need to order another one) and then make sure it's slid on the other side all the way. I used their depth tool but I imagine you could probably just use a tape measure instead. On the Tee side, I just used pex which then went to a pex shutoff valve.
