Excellent but for 75% switch failure rate

14 May 2023...so far I 've bought four of these great work lights, durable, bright light, good tilt head, and with 5Ah battery very stable...but. And the big butt is that 3 of the four are out of action because of lousy switch design. All gave up after about 2 years. The visible trigger. Which I assumed to be merely a weather resistant flexible covering for a hard switch....nope...after razor surgery removing the flexible cover revealed an integral cylinder post about 2 cm long which fit a black plastic well to the actual micro switch which I suspect is the real culprit...because sometimes it worked on first push and sometimes on second. Minor annoyance until it no longer worked. The excellent old Porter Cable tools helped provide a living...so far the work light have cost me more than $120....never again.

excellent brightness

this was accidently left on in the back of my jeep, and with the standard battery it was still on the next morning... so excellent battery life, easy to use and good tool to have on the trails or in the shop.

Great light

Out of the books and put to work under my truck. Love the adjustable light head. Put light where you need it. Battery as base makes for a stable and sturdy platform. Will buy another one for the emergency backup lighting.

Great, durable light

Works great I use it at work every day and a small 2ah battery will last me all day and then some. I’ve dropped it off a step ladder, off the top of a semi trailer, and it still holds up. My only two complaints are I wish the head swiveled left to right and I wish you could adjust the beam. Otherwise it’s definitely worth the money. There are definitely brighter lights out there but the value is still there.

Dear Porter Cable Fan: Just Buy It

I went back and forth for ages on whether to purchase this light. I already own a bunch of P.C. tools so already have the batteries. Long story short: It's bright and you should buy it to add to your P.C. kit. The focused light works perfectly at 100ft, while the "residual" light it sheds everywhere else is pretty good. I don't know what they're feeding LED's these days, but those 4 little diodes are strong!

I have many Porter Cable 20v tools and this light is compatible with them all. Sits well and small body size allows it to be used in tight places.

Muy recomendable

Tiene muy buena iluminación como para usarse como lámpara nocturna y para realizar trabajos de reparación en lugares pequeños, como abajo de un lavabo, mueble, etc. La cabeza se mueve en 5 posiciones para una mejor iluminación. La batería NO la incluye, pero tengo baterías extras de otros productos de esta marca como el destornillador y la esmeriladora.

Update 4 years later. Stable base, will remain standing up

---------------------- Edit 4 years later. I have been using it every day and several times a day for the last 4 years. I raise dogs and I always have something to check inside their cages, or go outside with them in the evening to clean the pen. I live in the country and there are no lamp posts, so it is very dark. This light is worth every penny I paid for. It is still working fine without any troubles what so ever. The neat thins about it, is the power output remain constant until the battery is too weak. Then it shut down. it is not light regular flash light that slowly get dimmer as the batteries get weaker. ----------------------- Very powerful. I tried it outside in back yard at night and with the snow, my entire backyard (about 150 feet deep) become clear almost like it was lightened by a powerful halogen lamp. I would say it is more powerful and does a better job than my big (3 D batteries) LED Mag-Lite. The Mag-Lite can focus the beam better but it is not as bright. Of course this Porter-Cable is 20 volts. The Mag-Lite is only 4.5 volt. This will be better in the long run than any other flash light, because you are using the battery for your other 20 volts Porter-Cable tools. I have 3 other, the nail gun, the drill and the impact driver. The batteries won't have a chance to go bad from not using them. A battery that remain idle for a long time, will be rendered useless much faster than a battery that is being used often. That what happened to my Mag-Lite. The same batteries were in there for more than a year, than they leaked. Now they are stuck inside the Mag-Lite and I cannot remove them. I will probably have to put in the recycling bin. This Porter-Cable is very well designed. With the battery attached, the center of gravity is very low thus helping it to remain standing up. The battery being wider, it offers a very stable base for the flash light to sit on. This is a great advantage over regular tubular flash lights that keeps on rolling away and changing direction while your are working. This Porter-Cable flash light will stay put while you are working and you will not have to chase it around like a regular tubular flash light.

Very bright, and a great addition to the handful of 20v Porter Cable batteries I have. Very sturdy build, heavy rubber on trigger, and toggle on/off trigger switch. Very bright, and an inexpensive addition to the toolkit. I have bought 2.

Didn't think it would be this useful

I don't use my plug-in light nearly as much now. Works for a long time, sits flat on it's own, and the swivel head has nice indents to lock in place. Only thing I could ask is more of a flood beam, but then it wouldn't work as a flash light as well. Very happy overall.
