Good OXO design but not for seniors with weak hand / arm strength

Needed a jar opener for aging seniors with weak arm and hand strength. Most devices are slightly tricky until you get the hang of it, especially since you usually need one hand on the device + the other holding the jar. Although I did like the OXO, we decide to go with Eazy Off for my parents. Sharing some observations after testing these devices: EZ Off Jar Opener for Weak Hands https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000X6K9J8?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details Allows two hands to grip the jar. Probably get the most leverage if you place device where arms can fully extend, or on a lower cabinet shelf where elbow is almost 90 degrees, which also allows a little body weight to help keep the jar in place. Find a shelf that's not recessed so you can actually see the edge of the device as a guide to insert the jar. OXO Good Grips Twisting Jar Opener https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09ZC55TP2?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details Wide spread of teeth on both clamps to grip the lid. Worked on an assortment of lids. Not easy for seniors with weak arm / hand strength since the offset handle still needs some strength to create leverage, and still need a hand to hold the jar (unless you get a partner to help). For this device, you need to pull (or twist) the handle while still pressing the center spindle with your palm to avoid the device slipping off the lid. Giving it 4 stars because it feels like a solid OXO design except not good for seniors. Ratchet provides good clamping force to open the jar. Teeth only one side of the clamp. Need to ensure both sides of the clamp are against the lid when you close (grip) the ratchet, otherwise device slips off. However, not the easiest device for aging seniors with weak arm / hand strength. Make sure it is tightened up before using

I like that the opener fits my hand and I'm able to open all but one jar easily. The one jar had to be upside down with the lid submerged in hot water for a minute, and then the jar opened okay. The pad that came wrapped up onto the opener does no longer want to go back into that position, thus an other thing floating loose in the drawer.

Works really well

I used it on a bottle that is vacuum sealed and has a weird small round top. I thought it would not work but I was pleasantly surprised when it worked like a charm.

Fantastic jar opener

I have arthritis in my hands and struggle to open most jars. This adjustable opener has worked just great on every size jar. I have bought two more for my relatives

Works great! Still like my Topoff best.

I wanted a second lid remover for my vacation home. Couldn’t find another old school Topoff, so I bought the Oxxo. So far after a few months it is still working great. The rubber pad for underneath is effective. I recommend it.

Perfect for my use

I have been looking for a bottle and jar opener. Sometimes they are very difficult for my hands. I was about to purchase a different model from Oxo when I saw this one which was shown as “new” from Oxo. This one has been just right for my needs. Opens water/seltzer bottles to mayonnaise jars and sizes in between. I may buy one for a friend with arthritis. Definitely recommend

A bit flexy

I’m not totally convinced on how strong this is. It’s a cracking idea, but a jar of pickled onions [710gm jar] has got this defeated so far. I’ve got ms & I’m pretty challenged in the upper body strength department & this thing is flexing a bit. Someone a bit stronger than me who can put a bit more torque on the jar & whilst it may open the jar, I fear this may snap!

Cómodo y robusto, con una base de silicona muy práctica

Es robusto y cómodo, tiene una base de silicona para apoyar el bote y que no se escurra lo que facilita la maniobra. Le doy 4 estrellas porque la apertura máxima del aparato es de 9,5 cm de diámetro y no de 12,7 cm que figura en la descripción del artículo facilitada por el fabricante, importante tenerlo en cuenta.

Bin positiv überrascht

Ich war etwas skeptisch bei diesem Deckel-Öffner, wurde aber positiv überrascht. Das Essiggurken-Glas ließ sich damit leicht öffnen. Leider ist es aber zu klein für meine XL-Gläser, aber das kann vorkommen; für alle Marmeladen-Gläser, Oliven-, Essiggurken- und sonstigen Gläser passt es gut.
