I bought hinge to replace one on my Sons sandbox that we bent over the winter. Easy to replace and just as sturdy as the original! Our local hardware store has been out of them for months!

Sometimes you need a new approach

In my grandson's little league, and everywhere else I suppose, they have a folding frame that is used to outline the location and size of the batter's box at home plate. The three at the fields where he plays were in pretty bad shape. I decided I would make the repairs. The two halves of each frame were held together with butt hinges. On two of the frames, the bolts had torn out the base material because the holes were too close together. The solution was to spread the hole pattern over a broader area. These strap hinges were just the ticket. Now, let's see these guys destroy these. HAH!

Strap Hinge/ Galvanized/ Medium Duty

Light to medium duty strap hinge made in china. Galvanized yes...stainless I don't think so.

I would only recommend medium duty.

I bought these for the gate to my pool. They say heavy duty, but I have yet to find anything zinc that lasts. I would only recommend medium duty. And make sure you use quality screws so you can replace in a few years, if needed. The hinges and screws I replaced were rusted horribly. The zinc will help prevent rust, but only if you don't scratch it. Remember that zinc is an extremely soft metal. So, if the zinc is damaged, the steel underneath will rust.

Sturdy

I used these National Hardware N128-017 282 Heavy Strap Hinges to hinge half of a bed platform designed to fit into my Subaru. The two hinges held the upper third of my body cantilevered over my folded back seats. These hinges are sturdy and worked well.

Good quality products

This is the perfect size for my projects.It's the second time I've ordered this type of hinge. I get a lot of items from National Hardware, I can count on them for quality.

Well built but has too much play

Very well built and item came as advertised. However, I didn't realize there is considerable play at the knuckle So if you want things to remained lined up when the hinge is open there will be quite a bit of sag. I guess for most applications this is not an issue but in my case it is enough of a pain to want it rate it 3 stars.

Only 1 hinge not 10

the hinge is of good quality but not worth the Amazon posted price of C$14 for only 1 unit. The item description says 10 items and until that is changed Amazon/National should be shipping 10 inges - you owe me 9. This type of misleading description is not permitted in stores and the best that Amazon would do is refund my purchase price but no need to return hinge. Not satisrfactory at all as I now see that this misleading description was previously reported. I previously dealt with National for a hardware chain and this is not representative of their normal practices.
