Fun Activity
I purchased this as a gift for my 5 year old grandson. You can only grow two crystals at a time so we have done our first two together. Aside from reading the instructions to him and managing the boiling water, he was able to do this with supervision. Both of us had a little difficulty removing the crystals but I have since read that you can leave the seed to reduce risk of damaging the crystals. He is very eager to start the second two crystals to put in the display as he said it's going to be "very cool." This is a fun activity but also combines learning some science which is always a good thing.

Pros: Simple instructions Great crystals Lovely colors Kids loved the results Cons: Can only grow two at once Takes a full week to grow each Cannot move, bump, or disturb the crystal chamber as it grows Requires adult help Only 5 display spots on the base Tricky to remove crystals without breaking any off Crystals will dissolve in water if you get them wet Crystal keeps spreading, making it difficult to display without damaging surfaces Bottom line: a cool crystal growing kit but finicky to use. Only purchase if you're prepared to commit!

Bought as gift
Purchased this as a gift. I was a little concerned when I opened the box to check it and there was dust inside. All of the packages were sealed. However, the rock specimen bag is a small nondescript clear plastic bag with a tiny hole punched in it. I'm not sure why there was a hole punched in it, but it was the source of the dust. I plan to gift this within a month, but I do have some lingering quality concerns since all of the growing powder doesn't have the same consistency. Three of the bags are a mix of powder and hard clumps. The other three feel powdery in their bags.

Fun little project
Got these for my boy for Christmas. We only used their chamber so had to do two at a time. But the crystals look great and light up. The glow in the dark one is kinda whomp whomp but it’s extra so…. Had fun. Looks good

My daughter was super excited to use this. It was very easy and fun to do. The crystals are rather lackluster, but still a nice thing to do together.

Fantastic Purchase
Granddaughter (7 yrs old) grew her first crystal. Waited 7 days before taking it out of the solution. Just took it out and it's drying now. She can't wait to do the rest. She wants to put the display in her room as a nightlight.

Beautiful crystals-stand is worthless
I bought this for my niece and nephew for Christmas. So while the crystals come out nicely you cannot get the “plug” off the bottom. The crystals literally grow on it and they are very delicate, so to remove it your going to break your entire formation. Since you can’t remove the plug, the lights cannot shine onto the crystals because the plug is solid and dark. The stand was a waste of money. The crystals however are beautiful and fun to watch form.

Interesting project with nice display
Easy to follow instructions. Adult help required. Crystals grew as pictured. Makes for a pretty display. Colors not as dark as depicted on box but still a very nice presentation. Our 6 yr old really enjoyed the process and loves the display. Definitely worth the price.

Fantastic stem project
Amazing gift for my 7 year old and 4 year old boys. They really enjoyed the process of creating their crystals. I did end up covering them for the first 24 hours as suggested and left them for the full 7 days in the solution. They turned out really amazing. The boys both use them as night lights now in their room.

Great set for growing crystals!
This is a great set for anyone who loves crystals or experiments! I bought this for my daughter's birthday, and she was very pleased with it. The set contains some crystals as well as everything you need to grow your own and a good stand to display them on. My daughter has just finished growing her first crystal. The instructions were very easy to follow and she can't wait to start growing another one.

Awesome gift
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my 7 years old son. It was a really cool gift. We had a lot of fun growing the christals. It takes about days to grow them. We followed the instructions and used Brita water and a glass pan to boil the water. Covering the growing chambers for the first 24 hours make a real difference in the progress. The only con is that the colors are not as bright as shown on the box. On the attached picture, the first line is Glow in the dark (looks green on the packaging, but just pure white), pink, red, green, second line is yellow, orange, purple and blue. They are still beautiful, and look really great over the lights. Please be careful when removing the seed rocks from the christals. Don't let your child try to do it, it was even challenging for me to remove it, ended up a using a knife. I can definitely recommend this product, it is great quality, interesting, fun, educational, and makes a great night lamp at the end.

Awesome Crystals
This set was awesome and both kids thoroughly enjoyed it! Silicone cups make it easy to get the crystals out. Recommend leaving them in for 7-8 days.
