Moen Iso 18-Inch Grab Bar, Brushed Nickel
When I recently bought my house, there was already a grab bar in the 2nd bathroom. Unfortunately, the finish was peeling and looked horrible. I had 2 options to make it look better - to remove the grab bar entirely and re-tile the section where they drilled for the support screws (costly), or install a new grab bar. I chose to purchase and install a new bar. The tub fixtures were already by Moen and I liked them, so I decided to buy the same brand grab bar to match the finish. Originally, I was going to have my handyman install it, but I got bored one day and opened the box to see what the process would be. To my delight, the existing holes with wall anchors lined up perfectly with the new bar. I read the instructions thoroughly (necessary if you’ve never done it before) and started by hand. I decided to switch to a drill-driver (very gently) to install the 6x 3” screws as I have carpal tunnel. The rest had to be done by hand. The instructions made sense, but I believe that anyone without small hands would have issues tightening the tiny screws that hold the bar to the base. Before the final tightening, I applied clear sealant under the decorative plates, then more around the outsides to keep any water from seeping underneath. I am happy with the result, and honestly quite proud of myself for not having to rely on someone else. But…if holes needed to be drilled, especially through tile, I would certainly have let a professional do it. You need to anchor the bar into wall studs to make it sturdy, and tile can crack if you don’t use the proper drill bits, etc.

Nicely made. Excellent mounting options.
Quality construction. Nice designer look, not the institutional look. The mounting design allows the flanges to rotate for optimal position of mounting screws. My installation was vertical inside of a shower. Getting 3 screws on each end to hit a single stud would be unlikely or impossible if not for the flange design. Worth the extra cost.

I wanted a Grab Bar that didn't look like I was in a Nursing Home
I wanted grab bars that looked like towel bars, not an aid for old people. These were beautifully designed and complemented the showerhead and trim. They are sturdy, and I can also use them to hang items that have been handwashed. I have a Kohler shower head and a Hansgrohe handle/trim kit.

Beaury and practicality all in one
I decided rather than buy towel racks I would purchase grab bars to do the job. These grab bars are both security as well as practical as towel racks. They are gorgeous while offering me security in case I slip. They are very attractive adding to the decor in the master bathroom. I had them mounted on a decorative wooden rail for additional security.
