Recommended by dog shelter handlers

I do volunteer work at an animal shelter and the top handlers there recommended the Mendota slip lead. It's been very high quality, easy to hold onto, and the stopper is just right. A dog managed to get ahold of it and chewed it fairly badly (the Mendota still held up very well), so I bought another one.

We adopted a free spirited 2 year old lab mix who is a bit much to handle on the leash. I hope this will continue to help her listen better so we can walk her with her regular leash. Very well made and adjustable! A little pressure gets her attention just fine. Great for training.

Best British slip lead available

This is a great product. Lower cost facsimiles are not worth the money. Slip is an adequate description for them as the adjustment can slide and easily allow your dog to slip right out. This one should last for the life of your dog, and then some.

I’m not really sure how I feel about this!

I bought this for my puppy and she seems to like the color orange, so that’s what I got. She thinks it’s a toy. Trying to use as we walk, she just wants to play with it. So, maybe I got the wrong color for this puppy. So, it’s hard to review for me.

It’s awesome! Until my dog chewed it.

Well… I’ve had this leash for two days and my black lab was super comfortable with it, and learning to walk by my side instead of pulling like crazy. But I guess he got too comfortable, since he decided to chew it and completely shred it. It was my fault though, I left the leash on his toy bin. It doesn’t mean it’s not 100% durable - your dog won’t reach it while you’re walking, and I left him alone for a solid 15 minutes of pure chewing focus lol. It’s a great leash for training and walking, but if you have a dog who loves to chew, that might not be the right fit.

Great for dog walks

This lead is very easy to use - it slips right over the dog's head and you tighten it with a sliding leather thingy. My only complaint is the adjusting piece tends to move back up the leash, so the loop around the dog gets looser, diminishing control. No big deal if the dog is trained, but makes it more challenging to control a dog you're trying to keep from getting distracted by other dogs, squirrels, etc.

Excellent leash

Mendotas range of collars and leashes is outstanding. This slip lead being a collar and leash in one is particularly useful. As with all Mendota products its quality is unsurpassed and in terms of value for money it is hard to beat. I now use Mendota almost exclusively whenever I need to leash one of my dogs. More comfortable on the hands than a standard nylon lead. I recently had a clip style leash break at the clip, so I was looking for something more durable with no "breakable" pieces.
