Great for Teaching Little Ones

My kids' school has this and I decided to try it at home as well. It's a great set to introduce kids to cutting foods. Melissa and Doug is a great brand, and this set follows that same quality they're known for. The set is well made and pretty durable so far. It comes with a banana, a slice of cantaloupe, a kiwi, a strawberry, an orange, a lemon, and a pear. The pieces velcro together and then the knife is used to "cut" them apart. I really like that the melon and banana (which each can be cut into three pieces) have the rough sides of the velcro on the middle part, so either end of the fruit can go on either side of the middle piece and not frustrate the child. When I set this up for my kids, I like to place the knife in the cutting position on the melon or the banana; then they usually figure out how to do the same on the other fruits. My only complaint is that the velcro on the kiwi we received is a little too recessed and we have a hard time getting it to stay closed. It's not enough of a problem to even knock off a star, but just something I wanted to mention. I still highly recommend this set.

Three year old jusst loves this!

My great granddaughter absolutely loves this and I have been the recipient of several photos from her parents of her enjoying it. From all comments from them, it is her favorite toy and this has been for weeks! She enjoyed cutting the fruit and giving it to parents and grandparents.

Great to to teach fine moater skills

I bought these just for the kido to have fun and now he knows all the names of them. Started hiding them around the house and he finds them right away. Not to mention he is 3.

Great toy but…

I bought this for my son. It’s a great toy but after a couple of days of him playing with it. The Velcro that attaches the pieces of fruit together is starting to get weak. And since it’s made of wood, these pieces have hit the floor and the paint is starting to rub off. It’s a Great toy but it won’t last you long.

Not the best

We love Melissa and Doug products but this is our least favourite. It’s a bit lame how the fruit segments go together and not appealing to cut. My daughter pulls them part with her hands and is bored in 15 seconds.

Great Melissa and Doug toy made out of great material

Like most of this brands toys, it is durable and made out of wood. I love that bc we have a young child that loves to play kitchen, but she needs toys that she will not break or mess up while she plays. These make believe fruits have velcro so that she pretend to cut them before serving them to us for "dinner" lol She lives this set and so do I! Great velcro and wood set

Fun and enjoyable

Birthday gift for 2year old

My grandson receives this for his second birthday. He can sit for quite a long time playing with this toy. It is indestructible and has good educational benefits.

Fantastic for 2 year olds and above

We bought this toy for our daughter who is 2 and half years old for Christmas, she loves helping us with cooking in the kitchen and enjoys preparing food like cucumbers, peppers and bananas. This toy was a great hit with her and she has a whale of a time chopping the fruit up to serve. Knocked off a star as already some of the paint has chipped off. The melon and banana prove a bit tricky to stick back together again for my daughter as the pieces aren't clear to her which one goes where, but i'm sure in time she'll learn.

Absolutely love it! And my kid does too. Only problem I see is since it is wooden, the fruits are quite heavy. Have to take care kids don't drop it on their feet.
