Mobile mechanics life saver!

Im a mobile mechanic and needed a way to mount a vice to my service van. This thing is awsome with my vise. Made balljoint replacements a breezebbeing able to take control arms off and hold them with the vice.

Another good review.

I used it to mount the blue 6 inch harbor freight vise on the back of my jeep so the vise can have enough strength to withstand the breaker bar force while removing the bolts off my carrier and also to install my locker while in the vise. Did it do the job? Yes this mounting tail-hitch stand did. Am I glad I bought this? Yes I am, and to end this review, the stand did keep its structural integrity after being used. No bending or broken/cracked welds in the joints. Came with hardware to keep the hitch tight so it doesnt move around as well as a rod and cotter pin to put it inside the tail hitch which was unexpectedly, yet considerately there.

Amazing alternative to a bench mount

Quality build and packing. If you have a hitch and need solid mount anywhere your vehicle can go, then this setup is great. You can modify the mount plate to accommodate different setups, or just bolt a couple of the slots and use a clamp or two for the rest.

Gets the job done

Kind of tricky bolting the vise down but it falls in place ok. Used a u bolt for the rear and 2 bolts through the tube posts in the front. If you have a long enough socket extension you could put a bolt up through the center of the square vertical post instead of a u bolt. I'd buy it again.

Parts need to fit tighter

Great product built tough but needs to fit together tighter so work does not move while using this unit

Needed some modifications but solid with those

I had similar issues to other reviewers. 1. Vise doesn't work with tailgate down as horizontal tube isn't long enough so tailgate must remain closed if vise is in place (unless you modify it, which I did not). 2. The mounting plate holes are 5.5 inches apart across, my 4.5 inch vise mounting holes (Yost) were 4.5 inches apart so I had to drill new holes through the plate to mount it (not a big deal). 3. The hardware included for the mounting plate is adequate except even when tightened down well the plate rocks about an eighth of an inch in a front to back motion. I took a shim and wedged it down into the hole that the vertical bar mounts in and that stopped all motion and it is very solid.

Mounting options for vise are limited

It is better than nothing to mount a vise on and it is portable. It is adjustable but I am not able to remove all movement of the stand when mounted. The mounting holes for the vise or other equipment does not provide any adjustability. It either fits in the holes or it doesn't. My vise is mounted using only 3 holes (drill a hole and weaken the plate), workable but not optimal. The portion fitting into the receiver is too short. I cannot open the tailgate when holder is in the receiver. I will use it but would probably not buy it again.

Works as it should.

It clamps tight, so there’s no annoying movement in the receiver when you are using the Vice.

Exactly what it looks like

Unlike many products you get online this is exactly what it looks like, it fits a standard tail gate, and is constructed of heavy gauge steel

Half decent replacement to bolting vise to a bench

Its a lot easier than bolting your vise to your bench but not nearly as sturdy. Works well enough.

Great but wish I could purchase another vertical piece without ...

Great but wish I could purchase another vertical piece without the whole thing so I could mount different tools and just switch out the one piece without removing the entire hitch. Would recommend.
