Over 1,200 miles and going STRONG
I have owned two pairs of these pants. I took both on a 600 mile long distance hike in 2017. In 2019, I took the same exact two pairs on a 500 mile hike. Combined with the training and off-trail miles over the past 4 years, I estimate they each have 1,200 miles minimum through all kinds of conditions. I just bought two more pairs not because my original two are worn out but because my size has changed and I am leaving for another long trip soon. In fact, I'd have no issue taking my original pairs if they still fit me. I find these pants are absolutely perfect in every way. It is stunning to me how much they have not worn or had any failure points (like zippers). They look nice enough I can wear them anywhere. I can't give them enough praise and have no recommendations to Marmot for "upgrading" them.

Great pants
I requested these for my boyfriend who recently saw a pair of these pants and wanted to try them. We live in South Alabama and you can honestly never tell what the weather is going to do. These pants are perfect for our type of weather. The pants have two zipper on each leg, one at the bottom so that they can go over boots and be slid on and off without having to take off your boots or shoes. The second zipper is on the shorts line, which are great for converting pants without having to change clothes all together. The unzipped shorts do not rub where the zipper is. Mostly We love how easily convertible they are. The pants are thin and light weight so they breathe very easily. The pants also has plenty of pockets for every man who (like my boyfriend) always has tools, flashlights, phone, skoal, etc in your pants. The only complaint, which is why I took away one star, is the main pocket on the pants is a little tight and its difficult to put your hand in. If they stretch out any (which I don't expect them too given the material type) I will update to 5 stars.

Funny fit
These pants are ok, but the fit could be better. The waist and length are true to size but there is not much room in the lap area. (It is a very short distance from waistband to inseam). They are water resistant, but not waterproof. The waistband is padded which is nice. The shorts are a good length at just above the knee, and the zipper pull stays with the leg you remove so it doesn't annoy you. The legs are easy to remove and put on, and you can't put them on the wrong sides. The fabric is a little thin and you can see the outline of the pockets through it which looks a bit odd. The pockets are a decent size and the gusseted zipper side pocket is very nice. They are well constructed with no loose stitching. The convenience of zip off pants when camping or traveling is great, I just wish these fit a little bit better.

Nice pants, but the fit is a little peculiar
These are really useful pants, especially for hiking, where they can be turned into shorts when you start to get a bit overheated. They are particularly nice for travel, where they can work as two pairs of pants (well, pants and shorts) for the space of a pair of pants. The zip off to shorts works - fairly easy to get on and off. The fabric seems sturdy enough and the waistband has a soft felt-like lining that won't rub. My only complaint is the fit. These are looser in the waist and slightly tighter in the thighs than usual for this waist size. It's not enough to make the pants unwearable, but the fit could be better.

Get more than one pair
These quickly became a favorite of my husbands. They are light weight, soft, comfortable, look great, all the zippers work smoothly, and they hold up well to all kinds of activity. My husband hasn't ever owned a pair of convertible pants, I actually ordered these for my son, but when he saw them he decided he wanted them. Now it's a fight between my husband and my son as to who gets at them first. I highly recommend buying more than one pair. These are great for all the hiking my family does because the weather can sometimes turn on a dime in the rock canyons we love so much. It's also unpredictable for knowing when you will run into a river from run off that wasn't there last week. He loves that the pockets are deep so he doesn't have to worry about things falling out of them. The quality is even nice enough that he has worn them to work, so they don't need to be purely for outdoor activities. They are have been a huge hit at our house.

Typical Marmot gear
Very functional and looks great. The zip off shorts even look good when removed, not hey look at me run my convertible pants. I think the waist runs a little bit large. By maybe an inch. These are of typical length, perhaps in line with a little large. I'm normally a 34" length which I believe they normally call a long. I don't look like I'm in high water pants wearing these.

Great for the outdoors
Nice pair of hiking pants that can withstand the rugged outdoors. These are tear resistant in case you rub up against a branch or rock. Water resistant so you do not absorb water when you get wet. You will dry off quickly. Have ample pocket space for belongings. These ran a little bit big. The zipper comes off below/at the knee. Very handy if you begin to feel too hot while in the middle of a hike, or starting an early hike going into a hot day. I love hiking pants because they do not hold in as much dirt and water as a regular pair of pants. I do not feel as gross after a dusty hike when I wear them. Overall great pair of pants for an outdoor adventure

Low quality
Generally. I find Marmot goods well made and substantial. But not these. They lack features, compared to similar products from the likes of Kuhl. Material feels cheap and the sizing is off as well. They are constructed larger than other Marmot clothing. Of the seller, Trade-Inn, I would say avoid completely - I have proof that the Royal Mail delivered the returned item three weeks ago, to the UK address, on the Amazon-supplied label. Yet, no refund is there yet. Originally they promised the refund in 2-3 weeks. Now, they are saying it will take up to 4 weeks or longer. Come on, this is 2021! Goodbye Amazon - your customer service is pathetic. [edit - now 15th Nov and still no refund. Amazon suggested I make a chargeback with my bank.]

Great pants, lots of pockets.
I love the fit and design. Although the pockets are a bit small at the opening, makes it difficult to get hands in and out.
