Great, but not for rolling sushi!

I bought two of these mats to roll sushi so I could clean them easier than a bamboo mat wrapped in cling wrap. They failed miserably. They lack the stiffness of the bamboo rods so when you roll, it does not compress the sushi like bamboo does. Silver lining! I've found they are very usefull for laying down the nori on a dry surface to spread the rice, then flipping it over onto a moist bamboo mat to roll. The rubber mat sticks to the counter allowing me to spread rice on nori very quickly. I keep my bamboo rolling mat (covered in seal-a-meal bag) moist so the rice doesn't stick to it. I keep the rubber mat dry so the nori doesn't shrink. Works awsome. Going to order 3 more so my students can use them too.

Not great for rice on the outside, but really easy to clean and use.

My husband and I just started making sushi rolls at home and we are trying new products out. I was REALLY hoping that this would replace the need for using cling wrap and throwing it out....I hate to waste and I ESPECIALLY hate throwing out single use plastics. I like to roll my rice on the outside of the nori, my husband does it the opposite. Here are my pros and cons for rice on the outside: PROS: -- Easy to clean -- Is firm enough to round-shape a roll well -- Slightly larger than a full size sheet of nori CONS: -- Rice and avocado stick between the ribs....not bad, but just enough to not be a sub for cling wrap -- Is not quite as "stick-straight" as bamboo, so you need to apply even pressure to roll evenly. Overall, it is not a bad mat, and it will be of use regardless. If for no other purpose than as a trivet for hot pots.

Makes clean up a breeze

Yo get this if you want to make sushi! It works great. Best part is, you don't have to spend 10 minutes trying to get out rice stuck in it when you're done like the bamboo ones!!

Non-sticky as advertised, but not rigid enough

The best thing about this is the rice doesn't stick to the mat like the regular makisu mat. Cleaning it is super easy as well. The worst part is the thing is not rigid enough, which means, when you try to roll the sushi, it'll bend all over the place. If you use the regular one made from bamboo, that won't happen. I'm going to try to use this in combination with the regular one next time I make sushi. That way, I won't have to deal with the rice sticking everywhere but still have that rigidness that I need to roll the sushi.

Easy to clean, very practical.

Takes the hassle out of making homemade sushi!

This is much easier to clean than the wood ones! Definitely recommend it over a traditional bamboo mat. No plastic wrap required and cleaning is simple; the wooden ones can definitely be a bit more of a pain to work with. The only downside is that the seaweed can slip around a bit on the mat because it's a bit too non-stick, so you basically have to make inside-out rolls (rice on the outside). Not that big of a deal, but still something to consider.

Good mat

The mat works really well if you realize it's not meant to replace a bamboo mat. I use it for making small rolls at home at it works very well. No need to saran wrap a bamboo mat. If you are trying to make a futomaki, this mat is not so good, lacking the side to side rigidity necessary to keep all the ingredients in there. For simple tuna, salmon plus one more ingredient, the mat works well

Sanitary and Simple to use

I love this product. I own 10 of them and use them to teach Sushi Classes. They are dishwasher safe and therefore perfectly sanitary and very simple to use for beginners and advanced alike. No they are not "authentic", nor do they give you as much control as bamboo, but I still give this 5 stars. Very pleased.

Great product

Easy to use and very easy to wash. No mess, no fuss, highly recommended. Kind of pricey though considering the bamboo kind can be had for £2.

Great sushi mat

I like the fact that there are no gaps between the rows. so no rice gets stuck. It's easy to clean and seems well made. My sushi rolls are sweet! Especially inside out rolls (uramaki) because the rice won't stick to the slick silicone.

Good idea but terrible execution

Good idea but terrible execution. Too weak to shape the sushi roll properly. Ok for home use but makes ugly sushi unsuitable for use at a professional environent

Homemade sushi for life! This is great

We make a lot of sushi and got tired of the bamboo mats being impossible to clean or breaking down. The rice doesn’t stick to this as easily and VERY easy to clean. Though we enjoy making sushi, we aren’t the best at it. This is actually easier to use than the bamboo ones I found at the market. I recommend buying this if you’re a sushi lover!
