Best in the market
Don’t look further than Kryptonite. Bets locks in the market. I use these for my bicycle and motorcycle. They are all weather and work great in a big city.

Great value bro
The media could not be loaded. This is a serious lock for fifty bucks. Unless you live in New Orleans, your bike will be safe with this bad boy. Doesn’t look ugly either and the mounting is very flexible. Only thing is that it rattles like crazy over bumps. Small price to pay for keeping a more expensive bike secure. I used to own the New York lock and like I said, if you’re not in Nola it’s kind of overkill. If you ride a nicer whip you need to have a u lock and I trust kryptonite.

A great lock, but the attachment is a bit wack.
The lock is just a high quality U-lock, no problems, act's as advertised. But the attachment that allows you to attach the lock to your bike is kind of wack. Instead of the high-quality metal that the rest of the lock is, it's this cheap plastic. The lock attachment is advertised to fit inside your frame, but for my size Large bike, with a water bottle holder it just didn't work out. Maybe on comfort bikes it would work, but defiantly not on a front-suspension, hybrid bike. So instead I kind of had to put it on the outside of the bike, somewhat by my gears, it was just a weird attachment process overall. I wish that there was a way instead of doing a 1/2 decent rope thing/rubber to attach, it would come with a option of just drilling, or a just a better attachment system overall. It's just annoying how nice the actual lock is, but then the attachment is so cheaply made. Again, no problems with the lock in itself, if you are just buying it to lock, and not to attach to the bike 5/5 recommend.

Key and bracket are great
I bought this knowing it had a 6/10 security rating, and seems a tad longer than some other Kryptonites. I think it will be big enough to loop through the frame, rear wheel, and detached front wheel with an immovable secure object. Some reviews did not like the keys but mine work great. I especially like the options for angling the mounting bracket and the mounting point on the lock; made it possible to angle everything a bit and get it mounted to my frame even with the other stuff I already have mounted to the frame. The only negative is that my wide all-terrain rear wheel makes it necessary to place the lock through the rear triangle of the frame. There is not enough clearance for the front triangle. But that should be OK.

Robbers Use a bolt cutter and just left a scratch
This lock protects my trike from Robbers multiple times. I have a well-built and expensive electric trike that uses only kryptonite u-lock and heavy-duty chan lock plus; the company has critical protection and anti-thief for the higher levels. When robbers strike cut the lock, it only leaves a good scratch mark on the mental part of the lock. U

Versatile size -- not too small, not too big, just right for one bike -- but turning the key can be a struggle
Things I like: I find 9x4 inch locks to be a versatile choice for locking up one bike. I tried a "mini" lock and never successfully locked my bike to anything with the lock through both the frame and a wheel. Those locks might be ok if you only ever need to lock your bike securely to a particular rack and the geometry cooperates but I noticed there are at least two pictures on Kryptonite's site that show a mini lock around only the frame and a rack. Hmm. But a lock this size has always allowed me to lock my bike up to whatever I find at my destination. The bigger locks can work for two bikes but are overkill for one bike. I like the double deadbolt, the idea being you'd have to make two cuts through this lock to cut it off instead of one. I think the wirecutter.com review said that is actually true in practice. Things I don't like: On the older design, the keyway was at one end of the crossbar where it was easy to see and get to This design puts the keyway in the middle of the crossbar. The new position is both less visible and harder to access when the lock is hanging on my bike's rack which it usually is when not in use. I've never used a frame bracket. The key can be finicky to turn. Kryptonite seems to realize this and includes a red tag saying "don't force the key". Sometimes it's so finicky I just want to walk away and leave my bike unlocked instead of taking the time to jiggle things until it turns. But that's how bike locks have always been for me and this is my fourth. Maybe I just need to work on my technique. Things I question: Kryptonite makes thicker and more "secure" locks than this but are there any studies showing that the extra fraction of a millimeter reduces theft? I've got to think if anything makes a difference it would be the double deadbolt, but I'm tempted to say nothing would really make a practical difference. Update: I've reduced my rating from four starts to two because the difficulty of turning the key makes this lock unusable for many of my practical purposes. I've had other people try the key and everybody agrees it's an epic struggle. But, it turns out to be the most secure lock I've ever owned because I've been leaving my bike safely at home and walking the half mile to the grocery store rather than have yet another epic struggle with the key. Sometimes it fools me by turning smoothly, then the next time it won't. I'm almost afraid that if I use this lock I won't be able to get it open with the key again.

Has its ups and downs
It’s a good lock. The only issue is that the key will get stuck really easily making it hard to unlock sometimes.

NOISY
It’s very annoying, not to mention obnoxious, having this thing rattle loudly with every remotely bumpy section of road. So annoying that, in spite of the weight, I’d much rather carry it in my backpack than the included rack whenever possible. But there is a lot of piece of mind knowing how secure of a lock it is and that a thief would have to grind through both sides to steal my bike.

Solid lock with solid quality
A very solid unit that has a fairly solid mounting bracket. I use this as my main lock and have it registered and setup with the company so that I can easily replace the two keys provided if I lose them.

Stop working after 3 times use
The lock stop working just after using it three times. The lock stuck in open mode would no longer work after very short use.

Better locks out their for better price
This lock is no good, I’m sure the safety is fine, but the mount to secure it to your bike while moving is so poorly designed, it always comes loose and is difficult to install. The lock itself is very sensitive you have to place the key in such a specific way most of the time it won’t turn smoothly. Also there’s two moveable O-rings on the shackles themselves that are always coming loose making it hard to close the lock. No idea why they didn’t just glue those in place. All in all Your paying for the brand.
