This is the factory original part for your obsolete Kohler high flow shower valve. You will definitely need more lube than they give you. It will not seat properly w/o sufficient lube. Alternative greases aren't waterproof and will wash off and start leaking again. Also inspect the meeting surfaces on your stem assembly (it's easier to assemble the oval rings on that part than on this cartridge anyway) as they are quite fragile and are likely broken. I don't understand why anyone would ever buy a Kohler valve assembly. Kohler should just stick with what they know, which is enameled cast iron (Don't really know why you'd want that either. But at least Kohler knows how to make the stuff)

It works, but packaging and lube could easily be improved.

The video on line was pretty good. My biggest issue was that this came in a bubble envelope and not a box. My next issue is that they treat the lube like it's gold and give you hardly enough to do the job. The lube is also in a plastic capsule that breaks apart and gets little pieces of plastic mixed in with lube if you are not careful. But, it works.

Kohler has poor quality parts. Consider ordering 2

Note this is a review of this part. NOT THE SUPPLIER! The supplier delivered what was promised. The issue that I have is with Kohler. My shower started leaking so ordered a new PBU (this part) and the Valve assembly and it still leaked. I was a bit befuddled so I assumed I must have torn the gasket during installation. I got another set of gaskets took it apart and the same result: A leak! At this point, I scoured YouTube for what could be wrong. I found a six part saga of someone with the same problem with a leaky kohler shower that had replaced the parts and still leaked. His problem was a defective PBU. I ordered another PBU from this seller and installed and no leak. My conclusions is that the first PBU was defective. (It was factory sealed and identical to this one). Since the dude on YouTube had the same problem, I can guess that Kohler has some quality issues with these parts. This is not my first experience getting bad parts from Kohler. I bought a new Kohler toilet last year and had a flush valve that would not shutoff. They had to send me a new one as well. As such my experience with Kohler is batting 50% on the reliability of their parts. As such, I am reluctant to buy any more Kohler fixture in the future given my experiences. My advice to you if you need to replace your valve parts is buy two of everything Kohler makes and perhaps you will get one that works. Unfortunately Kohler is the only game in town for these parts.

Great part! Fixed my drip.

Comes with all gaskets needed and silicone, slides right in. Make sure you watch the video to see how not to damage the gaskets on removal and installation. I used a lot more silicone and lubed the inside of the valve housing to ensure the gaskets weren't damaged during installation (as I had done previously while damaging the cartridge removing and installing it). Whatever you do, do not put pliers on the outlets, only the cartridge body... I missed one side and it damaged the edge and caused worse problems. This new cartridge fixed all of it. Cheers!

New part put in but now shower leaks

Replaced the part as recommended but now the shower won’t stop leaking even after taking it apart and putting back together with the lubricant. Driving me crazy. So after hours spent troubleshooting, I decided to put in the older PBU and original problem is still there (pulsating) but no leak! Definitely a crappy PBU. Need some better QA/QC Kohler! Update: Odered new part again and this one works! Adding a couple of stars for ease of return and refund.
