Look great, but require some fiddling and additional materials to install outdoors.

These are nice looking lights, particularly if you have modern/midcentury home and do not want to spend $200-$300 on lighting. You can put a 65 watt bulb in the top and bottom, which means that you can throw a lot of light up on your house in the evening and down below (or considerably less if you just want to use it as accent lighting). I did not find installation to be that easy. I was attaching the lights to a wood surface, and the irregular surface made it necessary to bend the mounting bracket considerably so that the light would attach firmly to it on the top and bottom (maybe is easier on a stucco surface?). If you are installing these outside, you will also need to buy the cap for the top of the can and will need to buy a clear silicone sealant to caulk any space between the light and your wall to prevent moisture from seeping in and damaging the fixture. I would recommend also buying two 60-watt outdoor flood lights so that you don't need to make an extra trip to the big box store when you install these.

Good light, no lenses, 4.5" install

I ordered this for an exterior wall facing the Pacific Ocean, so this light is going to be put to the test. It seems sturdy enough - out of the box presentation was good and the build quality seems good. The mount is indeed 4.5" and measures exactly spot on. There are no lenses to protect the sockets (two sockets, one facing up, one facing down) so I do wonder if that will lead to premature failure as moisture and elemnts get in. On the positive side, no glass lenses to clean or break! A really good looking light. It looks just like it does in the picture and is a nice down (and up) light for a contemporary home or office. Hope this helps.

I really like this fixture

I purchased this for my home which has a cove entrance. Having the lights both up and down really spreads the light. Being in a cove, it's protected from the elements so the open top doesn't cause an issue. Simple to install, like most smaller light fixtures and so far seems to be holding up well in the Atlantic Coast damp salty air.

They look beautiful but there are issues you should be aware of

We bought a dozen of these for a MCM renovation. They look beautiful but there are issues you should be aware of: 1) If being used outdoors, there is an additional $20 lens you need to buy to prevent moisture from coming in on top 2) When you buy the $20 lens mentioned above, it may bother you that the top and bottom are not symmetrical and then you will want/need to buy the diffuser for the bottom. Now this affordable light has gone up in price by over 50%. 3) The construction of the actual bulb holders are questionable. I have not been able to cleanly screw in quite a few bulbs and they then become cross-threaded and break trying to get them out. I did see this mentioned in another review and this is not a problem I would expect with these. Overall, great look, but for the price I would expect slightly better construction. I just hope they last as we just installed a dozen and I really don't want to have that expense again.

Beautiful light for our home

So far, I love these sconces. We are using them indoors. They take two bulbs, so one washes up and one washes down. They provide a lot of light! We are using dimmable LED bulbs and so far, it's been fantastic. If you have a modern / contemporary / or even rustic, woodsy home, these fit into the look perfectly. The challenge with our house is that it tends to be dark...even after we painted all the cedar ceiling and walls white. This light does a wonderful job of washing light both upward and downward, but also just providing ample general light. The beam is not too narrow/focused....it spreads outward enough to look natural. We are very pleased with our purchase.

Nice light

This was a good buy for us, replacing our artsy-crafty porchlight with something that matches our mid-century modern house. Easy to install (I'm no electrician) and seems to like the new-style bulbs just fine. I got the black cap that makes it rain-worthy. Not sure if that was necessary under the roof, but the black accent looks nice. One star off for the price, which I thought was a little high, but the style probably adds that much to the value of the house.

Not an outdoor light

I like the look of this light but let me tell you, installing them was a project from hades. Right out of the box I knew I was in trouble. First I discovered this outdoor light is not a waterproof light. I returned to the product description page to find out to make this light waterproof you have to purchase a lens cap for an additional $25 but none were available so you have to purchase the cap from secondary sellers because they only have "one in stock" for a higher price and of course a shipping charge. I couldn't return the lights because I opened the box which you have to do to find out they are a piece of junk. So I bit the bullet and bought the waterproof lenses and started to install the lights. The mounting hardware is incompatible with the junction box on my house and needed much alteration. The fixture doesn't seal properly to the stucco finish on my house and has to be caulked. I overcame the obstacles and hung the lights. They look good but completely not worth the effort or the price. There are comparable lights at half the price and easier to install and come with the waterproof lenses for both ends at no extra cost. I don't recommend this product and would give it less than one star if I had the option.

Kichler Wall Mount Can Light is Great!

I installed this light myself and was very impressed with the quality of the product, finish and unique mounting plate that is substantially more secure than the typical flimsy arm supplied with most wall mount lights. It casts a nice light downwards only like a wall washing pot light. Eliminates any hot spots when viewed from the front, but not a good choice if you want to cast a light out for illuminating a larger area. However in trying to re-order another 4 of them for another location on my house, I was NOT impressed with the wildly fluctuating prices at Amazon and others as well as the unreliable supply of such a simple light. This light has about 4 parts and could not be easier to manufacture but has prices ranging from $46 to $80 depending on when and where you shop.
