Stylish and Sturdy

So, I was recommended the brand by an outdoorsy friend, and took a chance even though this is the most I've ever spent on a pair of shoes in maybe a decade. I LOVE the color and how sturdy they feel. I got them over the weekend and started breaking them in today. Roughing it in some really dilapidated parking lots, I couldn't feel the bumps at all; promising. Length wise, I have wide feet, so while by length I'd need a 7, I got a 10 based on the reviews and size suggestions. I've got about an inch of room at both the toe and heel. The sides feel very snug with socks, not quite pinchy but definitely need to be broken in. I think a 9.5 might have worked if I had more time to break them in for what I need them for. I'm used to room in the front and back since I've been buying bigger shoes my whole life, but for people that expect a snug fit all around you might find this uncomfortable. This is also perhaps not the safest for hiking, but faced with the alternative of permanently pinched feet, I made my choice. Leaving this at 4 stars for now, because one of my laces came with some sort of caked on resin or glue, and they're going to get a trial by fire in a couple weeks, so that'll be the real test for how they hold up.

Replacing well-loved pair.

No surprises here, I’ve had a pair of these, in blue, for 9 or 10 years, and wear them more or less all of the time I step out of the house (outside of work time), except for the deep mid winter. I drive in them, I cycle in them, and I walk serious miles in them without the hint of a blister - naturally, I never wear them with socks! After a decade of trusty service, my blue pair is just about to suffer a strap parting, so I’ve bought a snazzier colourful pair in anticipation of that day, because I wouldn’t want to be without them.
