Beware Size Descriptions - and doesn't come with cover!
I'm searching for a solution to house two outside cats during the winter. I ordered this "Igloo-Style" heated pad.. the medium size. The specifications state that it is " Approximately 14.5" x 24" ". On Amazon's page for this item they advertise under *Frequently Bought Together* another item.. the Petmate 25702 Kitty Kat Condo, Mouse Gray. Also the Petmate Igloo is listed under the *Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought* list. Ok, I get it - these items were made for each other. The Petmate 25702 Igloo specifications state it is 26 x 25.3 x 18.5 inches. And this pad is "Approximately 14.5" x 24". After all this information and encouragement there is no way these two items won't fit, right? Wrong. It doesn't. It is about two inches too wide to fit in the Igloo mentioned above. These two items are completely incompatible. UPDATE: Ok, so I returned the medium and ordered the small (even though no size information is given for the small). It's 11.5" x 18', by the way. According to the website description here on Amazon, "The mat now comes with a free removable fleece cover". Did it come with the "free" cover this time. Nope. It did come with safety insert though informing me not to use anything *but* the official fleece cover or the warranty is void and the unit will overheat and probably malfunction. So I need to spend another $20 on this cover to keep from voiding the warranty or my cats will be sleeping on a hard piece of ABS plastic? The small unit doesn't even fit very well. It is too small and doesn't go to the edges of the igloo. The installation instructions also advise you to drill a hole into the side of your igloo to run the power cable. In summary, I'm docking this review down to 2-stars from 3 because of the missing pad. Don't buy this item if you have the above igloo, and if you do, don't be surprised to not have the cover included in the box. You're much better off finding another heating solution - this pad is expensive, doesn't fit, and the provided description is inaccurate.

Great product - my second purchase
This is the 2nd kennel heating pad I've purchased... first one was for the neighbor's cat who decided she wanted to live w/ us instead and moved into an abandoned igloo... it got cold and she went in. She pretty much has lived in that igloo all of last winter and since the start of the cold weather here, coming out to sun herself during the daylight hours. So, having gotten a new pup who has to stay outdoors the 2-3 days/week I have to leave for work, I decided she would be happier if given a warm place ... The jury's still out on whether my pup likes the added warmth (she prefers romping ... then again, I'm not here to watch all day) but it's obviously quite warm in her igloo - plenty to give me peace of mind that she can get in out of the cold if she wants to. My first heating pad is still running well after its first year, a summer in storage and now in its second year. So... I'm quite happy.

Economic and old dog loves it.
So far, my outside short hair aged dog loves this and it has subtle warmth, not heating pad warmth. It feels like a warm body has been laying there. I hope it last through the winter! Very pleased. I bought one a bit smaller (medium) than the floor of the igloo. I wanted her to be able to get OFF the heated area if she wanted to. I think they advise that also. We drilled a small hole in the bottom back part of the igloo dog house to put the cord through. Cedar chips cover that fine. This comes with a fleece like cover, which makes it very nice. I did not want her laying directly on the rubber pad. I am pleased with it. AND the instructions says it only uses the power of a night light. Can't beat that!

Dog loves it.
This fit well in the medium dogloo and just a little notch in the seam for the cord to come out and snapped roof back on. Easy.. My dog sleeps good and it's nice and warm.

K&H Igloo-Style Lectro Kennel, Medium
The K&H Igloo-Style Lectro Kennel dog house heater has been a life saver for my dog and family. We have an outdoor dog that I would like to have indoors, however, we are unable to let him inside the house several reasons. I purchased this product to have handy for cold winter days and nights but subsequently decided to leave it on all winter long when I realized how much my dog loves it. I have not noticed any significant increase in my electric bill because this heater uses the same amount of energy as a 60 watt light bulb, which apparently isn't much. The heater covers half of the floor of the dog house, which is perfect because the dog will lay completely on the heater when it is really cold or he will lay partially on the heater when it is not too cold.

Works great
Once the dog figured out that it would keep him warm, he loved it. He did manage to tear the cover off of it within the first day though. That is the only reason I gave it a 4. My daughter said it was nice and warm. She tried to show the dog how to use it...
