Medium not sized right

My daughter wore these all the time when she was in the "small" size range, so when she grew out of them I figured she'd be a medium. She is 8.5 years old and wears a size 2 shoe. But the medium is way too small. And unfortunately I waited too long to return them. Oh well, they'll be donated to a younger cousin, I guess.

The socks are adorable but my daughter refuses to wear them because they are too thick, making her shoes too tight.

Poor Quality

At first glance the socks feel thick and soft, but my daughter put them on and wore them for the evening. . .the threads have already frayed on the bottom of the sock where the patterns change. With just one wear they look old and tattered. Not good quality.
