New owner. Quality looks and feels fantastic.
This is the first pair of High Quality Leather boots I've ever owned. I am very pleased with how they look and feel in person. I have flat & very wide feet and wear a Mens Size 12 for some shoes and a size 13 for others. I decided to buy the size 13-wide version of the Irish Setter 882 Elk Tracker Waterproof 600 gram insulated boot. So far, i'm very pleased with how they fit. My feet stay put inside. I have zero issues with sliding to the front of the boot and hitting my toes. The Wide version of this boot is slightly snug on the sides. But i'm sure once the leather breaks-in they will fit perfect. The heel support is great. My heels do not slide around at all. They feel custom made for my feet. The foot bed is very comfortable. The stitching is high quality. Most seams are triple stitched. They do weigh a bit more than I'm used too. But that's fine; because well-made things weigh more... I got these in the mail today and I've been wearing them around the house to help break them in. I am wearing regular thin socks because my wool socks would be too thick to fit inside comfortably. In all seriousness these things are so dang warm inside the house that i believe i won't need wool socks outside this winter. At room temperature they are very warm, not hot, and my feet are dry, not sweaty. These breathe way better than I expected. I can't wait to work in these this winter!

Can't wait for the cold!
So I went to a Red Wing store in my area and these were the ones recommended to me by the associate. He had a 200 gram and a 1000 gram pairs in stock, but I needed the 600 gram. In the 200g model the 8.5 EE fit great, but the 1000g I needed a 9EE. So I found these 600g model and bought an 8.5 EE. It's a little more snug than the 200g, but I'm confident they will break in well for my hard to fit feet. These are better than my every day wear Carolina boots. These look and feel like one of the best pairs of insulated boots I've ever had. It's not quite cold enough yet, but when we hit those temps, I'm honestly excited about breaking these in. I have some extremely high quality hand made White's boots that are my special occasion boots, and yes these are not as high quality, but honestly, it doesn't seem all that far off. For a hunting boot with this quality of materials and workmanship, for what I paid, I am extremely happy.

Lacks Durability and Stiffness
I have owned two pairs of these boots, both performed similarly. Both pairs had the same issues with the weld between the sole and upper fail and separate. The second pair had the weld fail during the first ten miles of easy break-in hiking and severely worsened throughout the ten or so days I hunted in them. The first pair didn't last much longer. That issue is my main gripe with these boots and it does seem to be a re-occurring issue. On the first pair, I ended up with wet feet while hunting in snow. On the second pair, they still remained waterproof, even with the leather saturated. Even if these boots did not have the quality issue of failing welds, I don't think they are a great elk hunting boot, at least not for hunting in the mountains. They are not nearly stiff enough for mountain hunting; the leather also packs out or stretches very quickly, resulting in a sloppy fitting boot. Prolonged side hilling or steep climbing results in a lot of foot fatigue. The boots are comfortable and I had no issues with blisters, even with minimal break-in miles before getting into hunting terrain. One pair did keep my feet dry in wet conditions, but I only hunted in them for ten or so days. Redwing/Irish Setter is having an operating system failure right now (November/December 2020) and they were of no help at all. I went through Amazon's customer service and was able to convince them to accept the return for refund outside of the return window, but they did take a $45 "restocking" fee, hopefully they don't send my used and falling apart boots to somebody else. These boots would probably be fine for tree stand hunting, but I don't recommend them for mountain hunting.

Best Boots I've Ever Worn
I usually bang around in boots from LL Bean for some other cheap-o brand I find at the local stores. But after the sole literally fell off the last pair of LL Bean boots my wife picked up for me I asked a buddy of mine what boots he prefers. He's an outdoor junkie, always hunting, hiking, etc... He asked me a bunch of questions about what kind of boot I wanted and how I use them. A few minutes later he went right to the Irish Setter website and pulled these up in the 1000 Gram. Told me these would last and my feet would stay toasty and dry. I waited a few days then it snowed here and I was shoveling in sneakers. When the driveway was clear went straight to my computer and ordered. Was lucky enough to find a Black Friday Sale coupon and saved a huge chunk of change. I received them on Black Friday and HATE taking them off. They are comfortable. No Blisters. No Rubbing. They are warm. One thin pair of boot socks are just right with these. They are waterproof. I've been banging around in the mud, snow, and water for the past week and not a single lick of moisture has touched my toes. I'm still breaking them in but couldn't be any happier. They do run a bit small so order a size or half size up.

Good boots to stay dry
I used these boots on a Colorado hunt and was not disappointed. Concerned about keeping my feet dry and warm in the snow and cold, these boots had no problem and kept me dry and warm both. They are heavier boots than some of the other brands I considered, but staying dry was a priority and they did not fail. Had to order a larger size. My normal size was too small and tight. Ordered a whole size and a half larger than my normal shoe size for space for my socks and because they come small in size. I would purchase these boots again

Excellent hunting boot!
What an amazing boot. I dunno where the negative reviews are coming from but I got this ina 14 wide and it fits just the way it should… maaaaybe a bit on the big side. But throw on some darn tough over the calf wool socks… and I’ve never been more comfortable. There was no break in period. I just brought them with me for an elk hunt around castle mountain in Alberta and put them on and got the trail. Heel locks in place , so warm, I could not ask for anything more perfect. Went up a couple hills and down , in the rain, mud, crossing creeks, no water got in and my feet warm and dry. Support is perfect at 12” high it’s a tall boot but no issues fitting with the rest of my gear. The OLNY negative is the boots ship with laces that are no where near long enough. I don’t know who though these would work… but lol. Common. Buy a set of good long laces or you will have to miss lacing up a good 4” from the top.

the most expensive boots ive ever bought...
totally worth every penny! made by redwing which is a work boot ive had in the past these are by far the most comfortable boots ive ever had...600 gram insulation seems to be ideal for below freezing walking or sitting in a stand at above 0 degrees. buy them if you need a comfortable boot for long walks in cold weather!
