Runout, the video tells all

The media could not be loaded. This D1-4 HHIP chuck is mounted on my 14 x 40 Polomco lathe. After cleaning the goop off and adjusting the cam-lock pins, I chucked a precision-ground center in the jaws and was really surprised when it ran only 0001 - .0002” out (see video). Overall, I am very happy with this purchase, it’s a keeper! The quality was way better than I expected, the finish is nice, no de-burring necessary and it scrolls smoothly and locks evenly. So far, I have not found anything I am dissatisfied with, I’m just hoping the nice tolerances stay like they are...

Excellent chuck less than .001 run out. I just installed this 6 Inch 3 jaw chuck on my lathe and it will hold less than .001 TIR. This is the best 3 jaw I own now. I compare it to Bison or Buck at less than half the price. I just hope it keeps the tolerances.

Good buy

I purchased this chuck to replace the 6” on my Grizzly G4003G lathe. I wasn’t expecting much but it turned out to be a nice accurate chuck. The body of the chuck has less than .002 runout. Grabbing on a precision bar I’m getting .001 at he jaws and .002 about 6” out. I’m getting no vibrations when the machine is spinning at its max rpm. The chuck bore will accept a 2.5” bar. The pictures show it compared to the 6” chuck that came on my lathe. I’m really happy with this chuck.

Shipping speed that defies logic

The product is exactly what they say it is and works fine. What was so amazing is that I had this shipped from USA to Thailand and it literally showed up in 3 days. Cleared customs and I was even refunded the additional customs fees I paid as a deposit. How they got it here so fast for that price is unbelievable.

.012" NOT .003" runout as advertised

Major revision to my former review. I blued the fit of the chuck to the spindle taper. It's terrible. One thin ring all the way around near the end. I also got after the chuck with a dial indicator. The chuck jaw lands not only aren't perpendicular to the axis of rotation, they all have DIFFERENT angles at which they aren't perpendicular to the axis of rotation. I can fix a lot of things, but I can't fix the chuck jaw lands. I've ordered a replacement, in the hope this was a one-off. We'll see how it turns out.

Worth every penny

I am very pleased with this 8" Chuck, so much so that I immediately ordered the 6" version the day this one arrived, runs very true compared to the 6" I bought the year before last. Here's hoping the 6" is as good as this one!!!!
