Appalachian Trail
I did my research. Though their are numerous good brands out their, Gregory has so many features that's geared for the all day hiker. It's also very light and very comfortable. Well made. I'm very pleased.

Gregory Mountain Men's Baltoro 65 Backpack.
Although I could have bought a little lighter backpack to hike the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), I believe I would be hard pressed to find a better backpack for me. What I like about the Gregory backpack is how well it conforms to me. It pulls up tight and dose not slip around my upper shoulders. But, the main reason I choice the Gregory Baltoro was because of their shoulder and hip belt straps. Those parts move with me. Unlike most of the other backpacks I considered before pursuing my Baltoro 65. Unlike some of the other (good) backpacks out there, The Gregory brand has shoulder and hip belts are designed to move when I move. So, instead of being strapped to my backpack, my backpack is strapped to me. This was very important to me because with all the full extension moves I make jumping from bolder to slippery boulder, tripping over roots and fording Strems. I need to maintain as much control over my movements as possible. I really can not afford to have my backpack toughing me around because I'm strapped to it. So, where it goes I go to. I can only speak for myself but, being throne off balance while in a full extension is a good way to pull a tent ion or ligament. Falling down is no better either. I'm screwed if it is my backpack deciding were I'm going to fall not me. In short, I want to believe that the Gregory's Men's Baltoro 65 Backpack is right for me. Not only do I have a backpack that fits me very well and is comfortable, but, is durable enough to Carrie my stuff all summer without failing me. And like I've said it gives me the freedom of movement I need to maintain as much control over my movements as possible. The last thing I want is to hurt myself in the middle of nowhere. That would knock the fun out of my summer. Happy Guy.

Great pack, but very little adjustments.
This is a great pack but there's very little room to make adjustments for load pressure, unlike it's 2022 version. I like that it has the rain cover and sidekick daypack which has been removed on the newer release.

An amazing backpack!
I haven't backpacked in many years. Therefore, I was in need of a new pack. I researched and tried on many types. The Baltoro 65 fitted the best for my 6 foot 4 inch frame. It was easily adjustable. I just completed a 3 day 20 mile hike through a mountain wilderness carring 45 pounds in the pack. It had plenty of room and I loved the layout of pockets for accessibility. The back support system is well designed for comfort. I also bought the compatible Gregory 3L hydro Reservoir system. It fitted perfectly in the pack.

This Pack Rocks!
I recently got to use my new Baltoro 65 on a 2-day backpack trip, with a lot of climbing and narrow rocky trails. There's probably not enough space here to mention all of the really great things about this pack. The countless number of little features, which you can spend days exploring. The numerous zippered openings, at all levels of the pack, so you can reach in anywhere and grab what you need without unloading. The various strap and load adjustments, so you can tailor the load distribution and fit perfectly for your body. The perfect fit of the flexible frame, belt and straps, which literally move and become one with your body. The small internal day pack. The waterproof side bag for cell phones. The included rain cover. Mesh pockets. Water bottle holders. Heavy duty hanging loop. Various gear loops strategically placed around the bag. The secure bottom mounting for sleeping pad, tent or bag. The little well-engineered details just go on and on. The only negatives are: 1) It may be a tad heavier than other 65L packs. This is probably because of the heavier ballistic-type nylon used in construction. 2) Lifting and loading onto your back can be a challenge with this pack. 3) The lid compartment is loosely divided. This is good in some ways, bad if you have something larger to put in there. 4) A clear map/document/solar panel storage pouch on top would be nice. 5) The top drawstring and cinch are not intuitive. Overall I highly recommend this pack. Excellent choice!

Wishbone Frame & Weight Distribution Issue
The unique heavy duty wishbone frame forces the weight distribution to the lower lumbar area which proved to be a significant issue with my relatively aged weaken lower back. For those older backpackers with aging disks I recommend only frames that distribute weight to the hips. The backpack is also a little to heavy which adds to this issue. The lumbar pad that comes with it does help if back properly adjusted overall. This additional heaviness is due partly to its wonderful many zippered access panels greatly improving access and organizing of gear; especially the large back panel with two adjacent side panels. The two top zippered panels are also very roomy and accessible. I purchased a 65 liter version hoping it would be adequate space for an extended weekend four-season camping trip which it was but space was tight and required time to repack adequately for the next run.

Fit really comfortably
Pretty nice bag, I was able to get the blue on here for $310CDN, compared to $400 in store. Would definitely recommend trying a pack on in person and having at least 30 to 35 lbs in it I was initially going for the osprey Atmos 65 AG. Which fit really well with just a slight discomfort in the hip belt. So I decided to try the Gregory and it fit to me like a glove in a small. I have only done a small trial run with about 33 lbs so far, and intend to use it on multi-day 50km + hikes Pros: -Comes with rain cover (mine was blue, unlike hedious neon yellow on the photo.) -Built in very minimal day pack - has good sized straps so it shouldn't dig in with moderate weight -Can open from the front and top. So you're not digging through your whole pack to grab one item. -bottom sleeping bag compartment, with exterior straps underneath for pads or tent. -the shoulder and waist straps are very well cushioned. Cons: -there are two pockets on the waist belt, one mesh one water proof. Both are too small to fit a cell phone. Could have been bigger. -Weight, it is definitely not a light pack coming in at 4.84lbs. -the support system is not as adjustable comparable to say the Osprey Atmos and other packs, but it fits me just great. -the shoulder straps make a small rustling sound while walking, haven't really noticed that on other types of tried. So overall 4/5, I will probably update this review after a couple real hikes with it. I think this bag came out in 2015 so I would expect an update very soon.

Awesome pack!
This pack is amazing. I tried on several packs this past summer and no one compared to this pack for comfort. The suspension follows you as you hike and does not rub. I bought this pack for my upcoming hike of The Great Divide Trail this coming summer. I have only two complaints that keep me from rating this five stars. First, I wish that it had a stretchy mesh pocket on both sides. It has a stretchy mesh pocket on the side opposite the water bottle holder but I wish there was a second one. Second, I wish the hip pockets were larger. I can’t fit my I-phone 12 in the hip pockets and the waterproof pocket would have been a great place for it. All this to say that despite the short comings I mentioned this pack is worth every dollar.

great backpack, amazing quality, fast shipping
backpack arrived a week earlier than expected. I used it for multiple 3-4 day hiking trips without any problems. Love the organization of the pack and the U zipper in addition to the top hole pack access makes it super easy to access anything while your on the go. Tons of room and pockets to store all my gear and keep everything in order. Definitely recommend it for short to medium length hiking and camping trips!
