Pro Tips

Tip 1: To remove the battery cover, you need to unscrew it carefully. Use a lot of pressure on the screw head to avoid stripping it. The factory tightened the screw too much, so there's a 50/50 chance of removing it without causing damage. If you can't remove it, return the device, as you won't be able to change batteries. Tip 2: If you're connecting this Motion Sensor to their Smart Plug, keep in mind that the Smart Plug's stay-on time can't be adjusted. When the motion sensor is triggered, the Smart Plug will stay on for five minutes before turning off. This five-minute interval can't be changed in the current version of the iOS app (v6.11.0 build 14256), as well as in the Smart Plug (v1.0.298) and Motion Sensor (v1.3).

Follow these steps

During set up we encountered problems having the motion detector function with Cync smart bulbs. Tech Support sent these instructions which solved the problem, when followed EXACTLY as written. Open the Cync app and delele both the Motion sensor and bulbs from your current Home. Delete the Home. Close and restart the app. Place paper clip end in the motion sensor pinhole for three seconds to reset the device. Create a new Home. Add a bulb into your new home. Do not create a group or room for it. When prompted, perform any required firmware update. Add the motion sensor into a new room. When prompted, perform the required firmware updates, Tap done. Set the motion sensor settings to your preference and be sure to disable the ambient light settings feature. Move the Bulb over to the same room as the motion sensor. This process only works if all devices are running current firmware. Good luck!

Wouldn’t connect

I’ve had 50/50 luck on getting these to connect and work correctly. Lots of trial and error and I’ve had to return 2 due to failing to ever connect. When they do connect, they work well.

Wish i bought more when it was less expensive.

Use this in the garage, it has made a world of difference now that when i pull into the garage the lights turn on right away. I should have gotten 2 that way all of the garage is covered. But in general its amazing!

Works, but it's a bit limited.

Hopefully as Cync evolves they will add a bit more functionality. Can only control a single group. You can set the timeouts. Color and brightness can be set differently for 4 time blocks which is the hard limit. Time blocks must be the same every day of the week. Color and brightness can NOT be set by sunrise/sunset, temperature, or weather. Cync obviously does not play nice with any other systems, but additionally the motion sensor can't send info back to Alexa, Google, or HomeKit.

Needs to be Updated!

I couldn’t get the sensor to work correctly until I performed a firmware update. Now the product works as expected. The motion detection range is a bit sensitive even on the lowest setting. The device is small and easy to hide.

Works well but not without a few issues.....

I have had c by ge light bulbs for about a year now and used Alexa and sometimes Google to control them, however I got tired of always shouting commands to turn on the lights especially since I don't have an Alexa in every room. So I thought this would perfect since it is motion detected instead of voice. However my initial setup was a nightmare. I had my bulbs already synced up with Alexa and my bridge and I thought I could just add motion and that would be all, but nope! I had to reset all 15 lights. I found out that by adding these motion sensors it makes my Alexa voice commands and smart bridge useless, like literally the device is incompatible with it. So if you don't mind giving up alexa/Google voice commands and your smart bridge to control your lights then go for it, I just had no idea. The app even tells you during setup that's it's "not compatible at this time" so my lights are no longer showing up in my Alexa app, bummer. But of course you can use the c by ge app to control the lights but not Google or Alexa. Beside those negatives it works as expected I have my upstairs lights turn on automatically if someone walks up the stairs and same downstairs. You can set the brightness according to the time of day and a timer of how long the lights should stay on to save energy. Also a tip set up your lights FIRST, then add your motion sensors or it will not work, so if your previous lights are already synced up with Google or Alexa you will have to reset your lights then add the motion sensors. Also there will be a firmware update out the box, so I recommend you install that right away. I will update review if anything should change in my review. Thank You.

Not Easy to Set Up

Note: Only works with GE Cync devices, will not work with other brand smart devices Do not let your phone screen go dark while installing the firmware update - it will not finish and you'll need to hard reset the device by using a paperclip before it even tries to work

Nunca pude configurarlo con alexa a pesar de cambiar de region en mi cuenta de amazon para obtener la skill. No tengo ningun p otro producto "C by Ge" Solo productos philips hue, y tp link relacionados con luces y apagadores respectivamente.. entre otras cosas. Aunque compre el hub de philips para las luces, se agradece que la marca permita el uso de otros concentradores zigbee como los del echo; por lo que veo algo inutil este sensor teniendo ya mi hogar con luces ya instaladascomo para comprar mas luces inneceaarias y quien sabe si se puedan condigurar facil o no, porque aparte de todo la app en android viene en ingles, que no es tan dificil, pero hoy en dia las marcas de prestigio, incluso las chafas, tienen sus app en español. Lo UNICO que me gusto fue el diseño, es pequeño y trae sus baterias incluidas, pero, bo gracias, mejor lo retorne.
