Exactly What I Wanted - But What Happened to the Front?

I bought this wallet to match my Frye crossbody bag in the same violet color. I am very disappointed that the front of the wallet is not a smooth, supple leather like the back and inside of the wallet or like the crossbody. It's very odd that the front and only the front feels unfinished and rough textured. I guess I'll keep it because it is functional, super slim and I am hoping it will gain a nice patina with use.
