A high quality tool.

Looks and performs as a precision tool. Clean smooth cut. Be careful. As the pilot point goes into the wood it can catch and pull the wood up into the bit. If used on a drill press, I had to hold the wood down firmly to keep it from popping up.

Perfect, clean bore

We use this in a bench top drill press for 35mm hinge boring. We have created de-mountable supports on the sides of the press table to hold the cabinet doors stable and flat. The result is a perfect bore, in perfect position, at perfect depth.

Great Bit

What a sweet bit. Made drilling all my hinge holes for my walnut cabinet doors a snap. Nailed the mark on each and every time for 14 doors. Very clean holes, smooth sides and a flat bottom with just a (less than a 1/16 inch) dimple at the middle. The reason I'm stating this it that I had another bore for the project and after using both in the same drill press the difference was night and day. The other bore wobbled so badly i was forced to build a jig to help me get the holes right. It was so bad I couldn't build the jig right. Checked out Amazon that night after hours of frustration. Bottom line.... I kept the Freud and tossed the other in the garbage. I'm a believer in Freud quality. I now own 3 other Freud router bits since I bought this one.

Oh yeah

Woowee. Now that is precision manufacturing. Was just able to put my cupboard hinges into 1/2" ply.

good quality bit but does have a squared edge not noted so makes mounting in traditional chuck a bit tricky.

Stout Bit!

Nice stubby bit. Length is 2 1/4" overall with 1" long, 3/8" shank, the center tip protrudes 1/16" past the flats. Shank has a flat ground into it. Have used it in Poplar and Cherry with no tear out. Fits Blum hinges well with just a few thousandths play. Well worth the cost - consider that it's only about 50% more than a non-carbide bit and will stay sharp many times longer. Highly recommended. Couple pictures uploaded.
