It's like magic and I can't say enough good things about it!

I'm a California girl with a cottage on a lake in the northwoods of Wisconsin and I must have the tastiest blood in the world because every year I return with a ton of mosquito bites all over (they've even bitten me though jeans). I had taken to using the Skin-so-soft suntan lotion with bug guard as my base lotion when I was out there and then using the deep woods OFF! in addition to keep the mosquitoes away (and I STILL got bitten). I hated the sticky feeling all the chemicals left on my skin, but since I also overheat easily, the humid weather didn't leave me much of an option. I bought this and a pair of their pants to try this year, and I'm thrilled to report that I returned this year with only 2 bites (I've never had less than 20 before), which were both at the edges of where the jacket didn't cover my forehead and wrist. I practically lived in this jacket this trip and I didn't wear any sort of bug-repellent under it, so it totally worked for me. The material is a mesh design and I was initially very skeptical about it keeping the mosquitoes away from me, but it did the trick. Thankfully, it doesn't add much in the way of heat due to the mesh design which in the hot humid summer weather would have been miserable, and on really hot days, I just wore a sports bra under it and nothing else. I wish the sleeves were a little longer and that the hood had a drawstring to pull the hood tight around my face, but otherwise, I LOVE this jacket! It improved my trip immeasurably to know that I didn't have to lather up in bug spray just to go outside for a quick errand and could sit at the night campfire without getting eaten alive. I told all of my neighbors at the lake about the jacket and pants and I would recommend them to everyone and anyone who lives with the irritation of mosquitoes. There was no smell when I took it out of the package and the material isn't itchy or oily - in fact the only way anyone knew the material was anything unusual was because I kept telling them how great it was.

small across shoulders... large in body

very small across the shoulders... I'm usually a medium or large depending on the manufacturer... shoulders slightly short across, but body of jacket is very large... have to keep it for the shoulders to fit.... also very annoyed that price dropped after i received jacket. Hope it will keep the bugs away.

Very light, no bites

It’s comfortable and light, and I haven’t been bitten. The small is very loose, not too big but lots of too.

I like it, it was great when I took it to Thailand. Very breathable due to the mesh, however got some flack from others also because of the mesh. Looks a little odd, but I'm sure in the summer or near water or a boat or hiking I'll be thrilled to have it! The sizing it a big large so I should have scaled down. Also the white is really attractive but does dirty quite a bit. And you dont want to wash it too much because of the bug repellent aspect. Things to keep in mind.

VERY LIGHTWEIGHT BUT EFFECTIVE

The bug protection is very effective and outlasts many washings. This is so much better than applying nasty bug repellant each time you go outside! Before you buy, you should know that this jacket is extremely lightweight -- great for warm tropical weather, but not if you are expecting warmth. I took a picture of the jacket with a pink shirt underneath, so you can see how thin the mesh is. As far as sizing is concerned, I am 5'2" and 145 lbs, with a 38DD bust, and the large fits well with a thin shirt underneath (although the sleeves are long on me, as usual). The pockets are handy for a cellphone and a few other essentials. This jacket packs into an amazingly tiny roll & is easy to take along. Overall, a great purchase! Edited based on another customer's question: for the second picture, I put my hand in the sleeve, to demonstrate that the mesh fabric will not be waterproof

Excellent purchase!

Loved having my new jacket on our Costa Rica vaca. Well made, comfortable, lightweight (much of it is netting) that was moderately waterproof as well even in the rainforests, easy for travel. no bug bites while others on the hike were getting bit! ( i bought spray to replace protection after washing) I will definitely get lots of use out of this jacket for summer hiking! I'm 5'5", 158 lbs and the large fit very comfortably, slightly big (sleeves slightly long, hit below hips and had long sleeve wool- blend on underneath) but I wanted that for this trip (layering). I will probably buy a medium to use as well.

BugsAway jacket

Bug away jacket. If there is a mosquito or a biting insect within 100 miles of me, it will bite me. My husband and I always joke when ever we go any place stand next to hear if you want to not get bite. I wore this in Africa on Safari and not one bite. Boy was I happy. Eve if zi use deet I would get bite. I hate to use deet. I have used other bug garments and have gotten bite. I think it’s a liile pricey, but if you don’t get malaria or bot flies I guess it’s worth the price.

Worked great on Alaska mosquitos

My husband and I both got these for a two month road trip to Alaska, which included a week paddling on a backcountry river. Neither of us got a single mosquito bite anyplace that the jacket covered. The mesh is tight enough to keep the bugs out but also very airy and cool in hot weather. The white color did get a bit grimy around the wrists and pockets and some of that did not come out with laundering. The only thing I would change is to get a darker color. But it's a functional item, not a fashion statement, so five stars.
