love this product, use it in all my Eheim canister filters, and some other filters as well. very versatile, easy to pack into almost any shape container. it picks up the dirt, but also cleans up easy for re-use

Quantity Warning

This product says 5 liter but it should read "5 x 1 liter" because it's 5 individually packed 1L units. Same great filter product and you can stuff it all in there if you need to, but when I purchased, I was thinking it would be 1 big 5L piece.

The best at what it's for

Sponges have largely supplanted this tried and true mechanical filter medium for most hobbyists, but they don't trap as much dirt without clogging as this old fashioned "grass". I use both in many of my filters, as I think this is a more effective second layer (after the ceramic "noodles") while the sponge works well as a third. It lasts forever, too. I'm still using my first batch, acquired used from a going-out-of-business shop more than a quarter century ago. If you keep large, dirty fish, consider giving this a try.

A truly SUPERIOR filter media!

I wouldn't run a filter without it. It carries a negative electrical charge that actually attracts dirt. You can drop it in a dirty tank by itself and the dirt will slowly migrate to it. It is expensive but when you consider that you can use it basically forever, it more than makes up for the initial investment. Rub it vigorously under running water and it's as fresh as it was when you first took it out of it's box.

Alternate use

Pull the plastic "grass" apart and use it as cover for fish fry in tanks. Resists getting dirty unlike yarn and is easy to clean off. Will float or can be sunk. Recommended.

Highly Recommend

This is a great product I discovered on Amazon which I use in all my canister filters. Comes in individually wrapped packs, so you only open what you need, when you need it. This product does a great job of catching larger aquarium debris, and rinse for reuse easily. Highly recommend.
