Dr. Martens je legenda. Sve je počelo u blizini Münchena u Njemačkoj 1945. godine kada je dr. Klaus Maertens ozlijedio stopalo u nesreći na skijanju u bavarskim Alpama. Kako bi olakšao hodanje tijekom procesa ozdravljenja, dizajnirao je cipelu sa zračnim jastučićem potplata. Koristeći stare gumene gume, konstruirao je potplate u kojima je zrak bio zarobljen unutar zatvorenih odjeljaka. Pokazao je svoj prototip svom prijatelju inženjeru/izumitelju, dr. Herbertu Funcku, i zajedno su odlučili razviti i proizvesti cipele. Ne samo da je cipela riješila liječnikov trenutni problem, već se i počela dobro prodavati u Njemačkoj. Do 1959. njih dvoje su odlučili da im je potrebna tvrtka za proizvodnju i distribuciju cipela, koja se tada zvala Dr. Maertens, u drugim dijelovima svijeta. Isprva su mnogi proizvođači odbacili koncept potplata sa zračnim jastukom kao kratkotrajni trik. Međutim, R. Griggs Group, smještena u selu Wollaston u Engleskoj, odlučila je poći s tom idejom kreiranjem prve radne čizme s revolucionarnim potplatom. Prvog travnja 1960. proizvedena je prva radna čizma s osam otvora crvene boje trešnje i nazvana je 1460. Kako bi se ime robne marke bolje prodavalo u Engleskoj, naziv je angliciziran u Dr. Martens. Asortiman je bio označen kao AirWair i ostalo je povijest.

Very nice quality!

Make sure you size down for foot fit. The ankle was a bit tight at first but after wearing them once, they did loosen up a tad. Beautiful leather quality too!

No half sizes

Would have loved if came in half sizes. 10 a bit too short and 11 a bit too big. Too bad b/c I always wanted a pair of Docs.

They fit my 9” cankley ankle

I bought these because I love my daughters. I was on the fence but decided to return them. They fit my ankles snugly but, were a little wide in other areas ( and I have wide feet) Maybe go down a half size? They just seemed too clunky for my taste and shopping online exhausts me so I didn’t try a smaller size.

Still great quality

January 7, 2023 Update: I have been wearing the size 7 for just about 2.5 months. I love them more than ever. Quick swipe of leather cleaner and conditioner every week or two. They remain incredibly comfortable out-of-the-box, yes really. So glad I found these. ETA, 2 weeks after purchase: After wearing for a bit, the boots have stretched to the point they feel sloppy. Trying them in a 7. Out of the box, I *just about* have toe touch on my right foot. Left foot is a perfect fit. Will see how they feel after a few days around the house. Love these boots - so versatile and well-constructed - and would be so disappointed to have to give up on them. This sizing challenge is the same reason I ultimately gave up on Doc's decades ago. Fingers crossed we can make a go of it this time. Initial review: Bought my first pair of Doc Marten boots in the 80s. Sizing was an issue but I made them work though I didn't invest in a second pair. Still really great quality. I consistently wear a Womens US 8. I purchased a Womens US 8. Roomy toe box. Enough room in the heel for socks. No arch support to speak of and I didn't expect any. Wearing them around the house this first day. Super comfortable. The double zipper is attractive and very practical. My husband wants a pair! Shame they aren't available in Mens or Unisex. I also purchased the fur-lined pair and they are going back. These are the winner. I will have them just about forever. Reasonably priced for the quality.

Tight around the ankles

I have been waiting for 2 years to finally make the jump into purchasing these boots. I was a little nervous on ordering as ordering online shoes are a hit or miss for us big people. Im originally a size 9.5 and sometimes a 10 depending on how narrow shoes are. (I am 5' 6", 300lbs for reference) only issue I have with these is that they are a bit snugged around my ankle which I am hoping after time they stretch out a bit. They are comfortable to walk around in. I am beyond in love with these and can't wait to style them!

Amazing quality.

As expected, the quality of this brand is amazing. I have two other Doctor Martens boots/shoes (different models) and I LOVE them as well. This brand's shoes last forever and look so cool!!. I wear a size 6 ½ or 7 in USA sizes and for Doctor Martens I wear a size 4, it fits perfect for my taste, not too loose, not too tight. These are the pros and cons of these boots: Pros: - The quality of the leather and the shoe in general is outstanding. - The sole is very comfortable, walking on them feel immediately comfortable, kind of bouncy. - The round-toe tip gives your toes plenty of room to feel great and walk without any discomfort, even right out of the box. - Having two zippers on each shoe (one on each side) makes it really quick and comfortable to put on on take off. These will be my boots to-go while air traveling, it takes seconds to remove and put back on for TSA security checks :) - The style is beautiful and very cool. - The leather is soft and of great quality, although it needs some break in at first. - Having had other boots from this brand, I know that these boots are gonna last for at least a decade or more. Worth every penny. - They look amazing with any kind of clothing I wear, pants, dresses, mini skirts, shorts etc, they make every outfit look better. Cons: - I have thin ankles and these boots are too tight on that area, I have to wear them with all 4 zippers half way down, or else they get painfully uncomfortable, I cannot imagine how these will fit on anyone with thicker ankles. I know that in time and with use the leather will loosen up and they will feel better, but by now the tightness is an issue. - The instep of both feet feel pressure from the leather, making it uncomfortable, but I know the pressure will subside with use. - I'm sure if I order one size up all these issues may disappear, but sadly one size up is way too big for me so I'm keeping these until the leather gets a little looser. - Keep in mind that UK size are completely different than American sizes, the first time I purchased boots from Doctor Martens I had to try 3 different sizes until I got the perfect fit. (I'm 6 ½ or 7 in the USA, but I use size 4 in Doctor Martens sizes.) These are my favorite boots right now and will keep wearing them until I get a new model from this same brand. Durable, beautiful, very well made and super cool, definitely a must have in your closet :) * I'm attaching photos, because of the angle and lens distortion of the camera, my ankles and calves may look thicker than they are and the boots a little chunkier than they are as well.

Doesn’t Last

The shoe is tight at first but once you break them in they fit great. I was really disappointed because I love this shoe and used them for work in the food industry. They don’t last longer than maybe 5-6 months. The soles of the shoe break easily and this is my SECOND pair. Same thing happened to the other ones. Company wouldn’t help replace them. I expected that these would last me longer just because of the brands reputation and customer service. But I was told there was nothing they could do. Wouldn’t but again or recommend for work.

Very stylish and comfy, better and cheaper than blundstones imo

They're comfy, look great, and are fairly warm in the snow so far. I've had them for a month and wear them everyday, so far so good! My feet don't slide around like they did in blundstones. The zippers make it easy to get off and stay on, though a little bit snug. Nothing besides my sock can fit between my ankle and the boot but it's still comfortable, just something to take into consideration with this item. I really love them though and am happy with them!

Love these boots!

These are wonderful. I love the Chelsea style - easy to put on. Beautiful colour. Very comfortable to wear right away. My first pair of docs, but I’ve wanted a pair my whole life.

Amazing boots!

I don"t usually bother to write a review but these boots deserve one! I bought them last year and had a few months to test them especially in the rainy weather. Not only they passed the test but I have to add that these have been the best buy ever! The fit is perfect (I am size 3) ..very comfy and warm too...seems like wearing slippers, also they are waterproofed and strong..the leather is so soft it adds an extra to the brand and so the 2 zips on each side. Costumer service is very nice, polite and helpful :)

Perfect Fit

I am a convert to DM boots - I have range of them now but I didn't have any Chelsea boots. I know sizing can sometimes but an issue but I stuck to my usual size 5 (UK) and crossed my fingers they would fit. Well from the minute these were on my feet they were comfy, nothing like some of the other boots I already own, these needed no breaking in time whatsoever, were much easier to take on and off thanks to the double zip arrangement, and the size 5 was a perfect fit. I know some people said that they couldn't do the zips up completely but if you find one side does up fine, but the other won't go all the way to the top, it doesn't matter. If it only had one zip I think this would have been an issue but the two zips lets you tailor fit these to your own requirements. I did add DM dubbing to these boots as I know that I will end up at some point wearing them in the rain, such is the British weather, so the added dubbing helps seal the areas around the stitching. I think these are great, in fact so good, I bought the winter lined version as well.
