1460 je originalna Dr. Martens čizma. Prepoznatljivi DNK čizme izgleda ovako: 8 očiju, utore na bočnim stranama, omča za petu, žuti šavovi i udoban potplat sa zračnim jastukom. Ova je inačica izrađena od Arcadije, dvobojne kože koja se tre i potamni tijekom nošenja, otkrivajući osnovnu boju ispod. Dr. Martens je legenda. Sve je počelo u blizini Münchena u Njemačkoj 1945. godine kada je dr. Klaus Maertens ozlijedio stopalo u nesreći na skijanju u bavarskim Alpama. Kako bi olakšao hodanje tijekom procesa ozdravljenja, dizajnirao je cipelu sa zračnim jastučićem potplata. Koristeći stare gumene gume, konstruirao je potplate u kojima je zrak bio zarobljen unutar zatvorenih odjeljaka. Pokazao je svoj prototip svom prijatelju inženjeru/izumitelju, dr. Herbertu Funcku, i zajedno su odlučili razviti i proizvesti cipele. Ne samo da je cipela riješila liječnikov trenutni problem, već se i počela dobro prodavati u Njemačkoj. Do 1959. njih dvoje su odlučili da trebaju tvrtku za proizvodnju i distribuciju cipela, koja se tada zvala Dr. Maertens, u drugim dijelovima svijeta. Isprva su mnogi proizvođači odbacili koncept potplata sa zračnim jastukom kao kratkotrajni trik. Međutim, R. Griggs Group, smještena u selu Wollaston u Engleskoj, odlučila je poći s tom idejom kreiranjem prve radne čizme s revolucionarnim potplatom. Prvog travnja 1960. proizvedena je prva radna čizma s osam otvora crvene boje trešnje i nazvana je 1460. Kako bi se ime robne marke bolje prodavalo u Engleskoj, naziv je angliciziran u Dr. Martens. Asortiman je bio označen kao AirWair i ostalo je povijest.

Wish they made half sizes
I've wanted these exact boots for years (Cherry Red Arcadia 1460s). I am a 9.5 in most shoes. I finally ordered a size 10 many months ago and they were too big. I sent them back. Eventually the 9 was in stock so I ordered those, and they were too small. They bit into the top of my foot (I have a high-ish arch) way too much. Docs do seem to be tight across the top of the foot where the laces are. A 9.5 would have been perfect, but as it was, I had to go with a 10. I've worn them at least 3-4 times a week for a month now, and they are definitely too big, but the 9 was just too small. It really sucks that Dr Martens don't make half sizes, especially considering how expensive they are, a better fit would be nice. I took off a star for that. When you already have big feet, it's disappointing to have to size up. I feel like they make my feet look HUGE and my feet definitely move around inside them even with thick socks. But I kept them, because 10 was my only option and I wanted these boots so bad. Ok now for the good stuff. Pretty much all my complaints relate to sizing. All that aside, they still look extremely cool and they are really comfortable and sturdy. They felt stiff at first but broke in quickly and easily. They look awesome with leggings, skinny jeans, long or short dresses, cut-off shorts with fishnets... I could go on. I always wanted these in the 90s when I was in high school but couldn't afford them, now I get to relive my grunge/goth youth. As for the color, the Cherry Red Arcadia leather is not the same as the Cherry Red in most other Dr Martens leathers. They look like a dark glossy oxblood with brighter cherry red "scuffing" and sort of berry-wine colored stitching. I haven't bought the leather protectant yet but I will soon. If you're on the fence, they are definitely gorgeous. If you are in between sizes and don't have a high arch you may be able to size down. I think a 9 would have fit me if it weren't for that.

I love my dr marten boots it took a while to accept the fit accepting the size the have begin that they have no half size am making due love the color so much just got to break them in

Frustrating Sizing - BEAUTIFUL color!
First let me say the 1460 Cherry Red Arcadia is a gorgeous color. It's difficult to photograph, but what you see is really what you get. This is a beautiful deep glossy color that goes with a lot of things. I get so many complements on these boots. I haven't scuffed them yet, but evidently the scuffs show up as red. Now - sizing - I normally wear a 9.5-10 US women's in boots, depending on the toe box shape. If you're trying to decipher all the sizes, and are normally a half-size - I feel your frustration. Order with the expectations of returning to try different sizes/country of origin. Most international size charts have a women's US size 9.5-10 equivalent to a Euro size 40. But the Doc Marten website has women's US size 10 listed as a Euro 42. Big difference. I trusted the Doc Marten website and ordered a 42/US 10 women's/8 UK. They were HUGE. My feet were swimming in them. I had a good inch of space in front of my toes. Exchanged for a 41/US 9W (women's not wide)/7 UK. They sent the wrong color (Rouge Smooth) and wrong size (42/10 W/8 UK) But it fit like a dream. perfect fit. It felt a full size smaller than the one I returned, but was the same size. (WTF!?) I returned them because my heart was set on the Cherry Red Arcadia. unfortunately, I did not check the country of origin for either one of these boots. I finally ended up with a 41/US 9 W/ 7 UK, Cherry Red Arcadia made in Thailand. They are in fact just a tiny bit short for me. Ideally they would be a 9.5. My toes are almost too close to the front of the toe box. But everywhere else the fit was wonderful. I was so happy to get this color and tired of shipping shoes so I kept them and removed the insoles. Which works to give the front of my foot a little extra space. When laced tightly in the ankle my foot stays far enough back that my toes don't touch the front. As others have mentioned, the way the sizes run may in fact depend on the country of origin. So in summary, I'm essentially a 9.5 US women's, and a 41/ 7 UK fit is like a 9 US in length and fits more like a 10 US in the rest of the boot (width, heel, etc - these are roomy boots - which I like!) Beautiful color but I returned them
Wish they were more comfortable , because the color is a deep cherry and I love the idea of them turning more red with time and wear- but ultimately I found the smooth leather to be too stiff , shiny and wasn’t fond of the feeling. They were made in Vietnam - and I found the 39 EU / 8W to fit true to size

Totally in love with how these look. They're my first ever Docs and I've been wanting a pair for ages. But holy smokes is breaking them in hard work. I've had them for several weeks and they're at the point where they aren't comfortable BUT they aren't painful. I've read that breaking in Docs is pain so I'll keep at it...because they're gorgeous!

I love my new DM boots!!
I have recently rediscovered my love for Dr. Martens since high school in 1995. Since the rediscovery, I've purchased 3 pairs of DM boots and this one is my absolute favorite. The Cherry Red color is just like shown in the photos here, and resembles the actual cherry fruit color, near brown maroon. The finish of this leather will prevent it from scratches/scuffs better, u like the smooth leather one. The fit is as expected, fits snug with a thick socks on, but after breaking in/stretching out, it'll fit comfortably. This leather is thicker and stiffer than the regular smooth leather one, I can tell this one will take longer time to break in, but so far there's no major pain or a tight spot when I wear them around the house. I'm excited to enjoy these this fall! Oh, the price on amazon ended up being at least $45-50 cheaper when including the tax!
