Inexpensive fix. Very nice piece. The printed instructions with the piece are worthless. Watch the video that is attached to the product at Amazon.

Works perfectly!

This tub spout with diverter has it all. I personally have never come across one of these that did not allow at least a few drops of water through the bottom spout, once the shower diverter is pulled up to change the water flow. This Danco spout allows absolutely NO water dripping once the spout has been pulled, and it stays that way for the entire duration of the shower. Unbelievably satisfying. I have not even heard of this being a possibility after reading many reviews and item documentations of tub spouts with diverters. They all say that even a brand new one out of the box will drip a little. Not this one. I may have a magically blessed spout, and no others ever produced will do what this one does, but I would rather think that you could get the same results if you purchase one. I highly recommend it. It was very easily installed, just used the supplied plumbers tape on pipe connections and installed in the reverse order that I removed the old one. There are plenty of tutorial videos if you need any additional guidance. It also automatically drops the spout diverter back down when water is turned off (which my old diverter would not do). Only downside for me, and it is totally my fault, is the length of the spout is just a few milliliters shorter that the one it was replacing. That causes a gap of about 3mm between the shower tile and the base of the spout. Haven't decided yet if I will silicone the gap - reviews and information make me hesitant. Still, overall, it's not a big deal. I Highly recommend this spout and would purchase one again.

Very easy to install

It took all of 2 min to install this replacement spout. The color really update the tired old "brass" look.

Multiple issues with directions and design

Somebody from Danco should try installing the product using the directions they provide. Looks like they changed them a bit from a few years ago but still horrible! Directions are riddled with errors and lack of clarity. As far as the product is concerned it has the following issues. 1) directions Starr you should “screw through the Retaining ring and back the plastic extension nipple“. This is impossible with the thickness of the extension nipple being too thick, maybe the mold shifted over years. The hole must be drilled to properly open it. This should be done by the mfg. 2) the design required that the rubber O ring shown be tightened against the wall inside of the Extension nipple. This requires proper tightening of the Extension onto the adapter YET the hole in nipple must stay aligned with the slot in the adapter. Since the slot is only half way around the adapter in found the O right never seated tight enough when the hole was visible so it leaked. It appears their mild has shifted over the years because the older extension which was I cleaned up aligned just fine, and O ring seated flush resulting in no leak. 3) trying to take off an old Spout by twisting off the spout from the extension as suggested is very unlikely possible. More likely the O ring and adapter will twist and the screw will gouge the copper as its twisted off. Wise installation would be to ensure the Retainer ring screw is position on the bottom of the spout, not on top as suggested in directions. That way the screw can be later loosened threw the slot on the bottom of spout, granted need to use a rt angle driver but it’s a clean removal and a clean copper tube when done. Now that the price has risen on this product a smart US company should design this correctly with clear directions and produce it here in the USA, once and for all.

The method of attaching adapter A to the pipe is poorly done. As others have said, it’s hard to screw in the screw and have it stay when screwing on the spout. It leaked into our wall and onto our ceiling downstairs. Instructions also don’t mention filling the hole in the wall with plumbers putty. It was only after removing it I noticed the old putty. We bought another Danco 10317 6” tub spout from Lowe’s and the design was far better. Instead of the X at the adapter A, it’s flat on the sides like an H, so you can hold it in place with a wrench while screwing on part B, the plastic pipe. It also has a rubber gasket that goes between those two parts to prevent leaks into the wall. For the same price $30, it’s quality overall is far superior, heavier metal, better stopping water when diverted is pulled for shower, way better installation method. Skip this model. And use plumbers putty to fill the hole in the wall so leaks can be detected in the tub.

5 Minute Installation and only using 2 tools.

5 minutes to install this tub spout. Channel lock pliers to remove old spout, wire brush the pipe end copper fitting threads, apply new pluming tape, spin-on the new tub spout, and finely inserted rubber handle end of the channel lock pliers into spout to bring the spout into final position and test for leaks. Everything that is needed is in the package except the channel lock pliers and the wire brush. Skill level needed is a 1 out of 10, very easy to replace this tub spout using this kit and at a reasonable price.

Installation instructions are totally inaccurate

Installation is a big problem!! You are supposed to pierce a hole via a screw-pushing!! That does not work at all and it took me three attempts to finally use a hot flame and heat up the tip of a Philips screw driver and poke a hole so I could then drive in the screw through the hole and stabilise the extension on the copper plumbing pipe.

Basic universal, easy to install

The washer in my current tub spout needed replacing. I decided to change the entire spout as the current one is at least 20 yrs old and I wanted to keep the gold look to match the other tub accessories! I will say Amazon is good to look for items in not as popular finishes. I couldn't find a gold spout in any of the local stores. The package came with instructions. Even if you are experienced it doesn't hurt to read it once over. I'm not a handyman nor a man but I was able to follow the instructions and install the new spout...with a little help from You Tube! The most difficult part was removing the old spout. Overall the product was as described and priced right. It's basic which was all I was looking for in addition to the gold finish. Do make sure you measure the length of the copper pipe before you purchase to make sure this one is the correct fit.

Great replacement

Ordered and came next day. Instructions clear and have many videos on you tube, very helpful. Easy to install but all the extra installations steps to avoid leaks were great. Comes with enough plumbers tape to get the job done. Addition of some sandpaper to clean the copper pipe would be good to complete the kit a to really make it an all in kit. Very good replacement, good quality and works as advertised.
