They do keep my hands warm my only concern is the thumbs are very large for me so I have to push the material down a lot

It's just gray.
The "Heather Gray" is more or less just a flat gray with some lighter variation and not like the darker variation in the photo. There's also a 6 page booklet sewn into the top of the cap which is rather annoying.

Comfortable and fits well.
Perfect for light cold conditions. Beanie is comfortable and the material breathes preventing a sweaty head. Very well made.
