Must for elderly parents
This little grip is so easy to use and provides the extra support needed to get my folks using walkers in and out of the car. We found they were always looking to grab something around the door to hold on to as they got in or out. This goes right into the metal clasp in the door. Plops in and comes out easily when done. They keep it in their walker bag so they have it for any travels in a car. Very sturdy.

Got this being not sure if I needed it for a pending hip surgery. Works perfectly, easily placed in the "locking loop" on the frame and provides a strong, stable support backing in and sitting down. It will give you the impression of being unstable/loose when you first slide it into the loop...as you grab and place weight on it then becomes "one" with the car. Perfect for the last 6 inches of sitting for feeling in control, and a great "extra hand" for standing up and out of the car. Small enough that it rides neatly on the floor next to the door but large enough to give you a good "grip". Personally I only really needed it the day after surgery going home(24 hours)-But I was glad I had it! My surgeon is awesome!

Very helpful for getting out of car
Super helpful for helping my nana get out of my car. She has a lot of difficulty getting up and out of the seat but having this in the door gives her leverage to push herself up while I hold her other hand. Helps both of us in the end: I have a easier and more gentle time helping her out of the car and she still has the independence of needing less help/ can do more of the movement herself.

Mom Loves It!
My Mom is 83 and started suffering from spinal compression. Shooting leg pains. Getting in and out of my sedan passenger seat was a struggle. She was always looking for hand holds on the door and frame. Got this and it solved the problem. Pretty easy to set, and is sturdy. She now keeps it in her purse. She also had surgery and got pain relief. But this is still handy while her strength comes back.

Overall very useful
I bought this Able Life Car Cane to help my Dad get in and out of the back of our cars. The out of the box impression is of a well made, sturdy device. In use this handle works in our Audis (an A3 and A5 - 2020 models). The fit into the door catch loop is good, and I think given the anti-burst performance of those parts of the car they are strong enough to bear the weight exerted on them by use of this device. The fact that the handle can move on its axis is helpful for a person getting in and out of the car, giving them space to move as the the device remains firmly inside the door catch loop. One improvement I could see for the mark 2 version of the Auto Cane would be for the metal hook to be covered in a a resilient plastic or rubber material. Although there hasn't been any damage yet, if you are really car conscious I could see a slight mark appearing on the door catch loop or its mounting plate. In all other respects, this is an excellent product that will help many people.

Fantastic product well made and doesn't damage my car unlike the red one on Amazon with the built-in torch. This is far better made and more compact one happy customer who will be recommending it to anyone who will listen!

What I dont understand is when the review title explains in detail what this is used for (Portable Vehicle Support Handle, Standing Mobility Aid, Car Assist Cane Grab Bar, ) why does this review ask - what did you use it for '? Are there any alternative uses for it like playing golf with mice or as a fake gun ?? Anyway I use it for what its' meant for and it works just fine

Very effective.
This is simply a handle. There is no option to cut your seat belt and smash windows should you find yourself upside down in a river. I thought the chances of this happening to me in Reading were quite slim. The handle fitting is quite narrow and it fits easily in a Peugeot 308 which has quite a small door catch. The handle itself is a comfortable non slip grip and my mother has found it very handy when getting out of the car. Very happy with the purchase and would highly recommend it.

it's solely a handle but it's a good handle
It really is just a handle with no gimmicks, it won't break windows, cut seatbelts or make tea, but as a handle it does a fine job, it goes into the door catch easily & stays securely without wobbling alarmingly, you can put your whole weight on it, then it comes back out easily when you want it to & it's a lot lighter than the steel ones. It doesn't scratch the car either. The only limitation is that you can't pull upwards, there is a groove in it so it does offer some resistance if you tumble into the car but you can't rely on it staying put if you pull upwards.
