Good bang for the buck

This review is for the Attwood 4606-7 Tsunami T500 Bilge Pump, 500 GPH, 12-Volt, Barbed ¾-Inch Diameter Outlet, 29-Inch Wire purchased on 14 Oct 2022 for $19.82. I bought the pump because it was cheaper to purchase than the Bilge Pump Replacement Motor Cartridge. Attwood Tsunami Bilge Pump Replacement Motor Cartridges are interchangeable for all T500 Attwood Tsunami Bilge Pump models. I like this brand over some of the competitors as it draws slightly less power and is easy to open, replace and inspect for debri. The motor was used to replace one that burned up when it got jammed with seaweed and I failed to have a fuse in the circuit. The old pump had been in service for 7 years and had provided many years of good service.

Great live well pump, base to pump attachment a little tricky.

This works great for the live well on my pontoon. After I mounted the base, it wasn't easy to snap the pump in place, especially reaching down into the area ahead of the outboard.

Have 3. Buying 4 more. They last.

I put three of these in our boat cabin that's always taking on water as it is left floating in the shallows in the ocean. One in the front, the middle, and the back. Along with floats. One of the floats has failed and been replaced but the pumps keep going. Most any other pump we have had out there usually fails by now. They are in a bad environment. The boat is old and the hull is absolutely filthy. The boat has sunk three times from previous pump and battery failures. Luckily the water is shallow and the boat is big. When we hear from cabin neighbors that it sunk we would use trash pumps to get it floating again. The boat gets in even worse condition every time it sinks. We have two batteries now. Back to the story of the hull. It is full of mud and other debris. Can't clean it at sea easily. Hauling it back costs 2 to 3 hundred dollars. Best we can do is keep it floating and just repair what we can. Until we decide it's time to replace it. These pumps have been through a lot for a few months now and I decided to buy 4 more. 2 for back up replacement (just in case) and 2 mounted at higher levels with floats. In case the main pumps floats fail. I have high hopes for these pumps. Now if I can find a float that lasts in that boats hull. :P

Pretty Good, But Doesn't Perform to Manufacturer Spec

So I purchased this to build a portable camp shower that runs off of my car battery. The pump was much smaller than I was expecting but for the price I can't really complain. I read in the manual that the max head was 9 ft. and that at 6.7 ft. it should pump at a rate of 260 GPH. The shower frame I built was almost exactly 6.7 ft. tall, but when the pump was at ground level, it was not powerful enough and the water level stopped in the hose about 6 inches shy of the top. I was a little disappointed but I simply put the bucket with the pump in it on top of a cooler (raised it about a foot or so) and it worked fine. I gave it 4 stars since it did not meet the manufacturer specifications, but overall it seems like a decent pump and for the price it's hard to beat. I will update this after my first camping trip to report on its reliability.

Easy fit, tricky install.

I adapted this bilge pump to replace the live well pump on my pontoon fishing boat. Limited space on the existing bracket made for tricky positioning and fastening. The result was excellent!

nice pump for a 12V french drain

put 2 pumps (1x tsunami for daily base & 1x 3700gph in case of troubles) with some stainless floaters and home automation system to watch and flush my french drain. Those 12V bilge pumps are connected to 12V DC batteries, always running in case of outage. Works like a charm since years. Update 2021: I had some concerns: the speed was lower than usual for days. I thought the pump was almost dead with no significant flow. The pump ran for HOURS without removing the water. Disassembled the pump, wash it a little and ran it in soapy water: the flow was excellent. The outer tube was filled with debris and stopped the flow. Reassembled the pump: works perfectly. It's really worth the purchase!

Great and easy unit to work with.

This is as to replace the live well pump in my boat. The bilge pump is the same unit. I only used the pump and wiring section and it was a snap to put in. Didn’t need to disturb any seals or mounts, it is the same unit that came in the boat. It would be a good replacement for any other unit just the same.

Compact and efficient

I have had an Attwood bilge bump in my boat for 8 years with no problems. Decided it was time for replacement and as you can get a cartridge to replace instead of a whole new pump, I decided to install a redundant system. I purchased both a new pump and a replacement cartridge, mounted them on a piece of aluminium along with a couple of float switches. Fused and ran them independent of each other, so if one jams or ??, the other will still work. I do not have much room to work in but these pumps are short and fit easily into the available space.
